Ralph Jones. Haven't heard that name for a while. From Upton, right? Thanks, Copley.

Is this Dennis Metdepenningen (hope the spelling is close)? Don't know who the owner was though.

The 77 ARCA car was owned by Charlie & Pat Newby from New Baltimore, MI. The driver is more than likely Dennis Metpennington ( No idea if this the correct spelling ), or a chance it could be Donny LaDuke but I don't think the driver in the picture is tall enough for Donny. How close am I ?

Just found out that Bill Kimmel Sr., one of the pioneers of stock car racing in the Louisville area, was the recipient of the John Marcum Award, named for the founder of ARCA. He is the father of Frank Kimmel and his crew chief, Bill Sr. He is shown with his grandson, Frank Jr., the latest in the line of winning Kimmel drivers.

Bill Sr. is also one of my oldest friends in racing, one of the first drivers to befriend me when I was selling NSSN in the grandstands at the Jeffersonville (IN) Sportsdrome in 1949, and to support me when I became a racing official in 1961.

    Congratulations, old friend...

I got the honor to talk to this man. At Salem Speedsway he took his time to listen to me and asked me some questions. Really a great man.Congrates on his award.

Hey Indybigjohn did you ever find the Taylor County Speedway site? If not you can get to it from the Campbellsville Ky. sit or type in Taylor County Speedway.topix. It is a great thread that is picking up speed. Brings back a lot of memories.

Heard through the grapevine that this Dodge Charger will be at the Polar Bear 150 on JAN 01, 2010 in Rockingham, NC.

These are pictures from the JAN 1, 2009 race.

Some good footage of him running at the 3:25 time mark

    Falconred,
Thanks for posting them!! The #67 Buddy Arrington Imperial is one of my favorite cars!! In fact it is one of my favorite HO scale slot cars in my collection!

I wish I could take credit for painting it. A friend of mine did it for me.

That red #71 Dodge belongs to a friend of mine. He would be thrilled to know that you like it. The car is owned by Jody Cash out of Dallas Ga and driven by Bobby East

I have heard some say if things had worked out a little differently that Stacy was a better driver than Lorenzen. I won't comment too much as Lorenzen was my hero when I was young.

Don't like to get into personalities, but I recall somebody telling me back in the 60s that Stacy felt like Lorenzen was Holman's "Pet."
