What Did You Come Home From The Hospital In As a Baby?

This is a repost from #311 but this time with a picture of me and the '42 Hudson taken on my 1st birthday.

"In December of 1947 at the tender age of three days old, I got my very first car ride. The ride from the hospital to home was about 5 miles. It was in my dad's 1942 Hudson 2dr sedan. I must have really enjoyed the ride because I've been a car nut ever since that day."

Me: a '46 Ford Coupe.

Both my kids did OK too. They came home in my '68 427 Corvette. Not the smartest choice because the roads were snowpacked both times.......(January & December babies.) Could have used the 4WD International Scout we had but I just knew someone would ask this question someday and a Corvette sounds cooler than a Scout.

 

67 Impala, 396, red w/black vinyl top and interior. Wish dad had kept it.

 

'59 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. My parents had been at the local racing banquet until about midnight, when my mother's water broke (which may start telling you a lot about my folks). Dad drove the Caddy to the hospital, then around the perimeter of it looking for the E-room entrance (dad was a bit lubed at that point and took out several shrubs). I was into the world by 2:30 AM.

 

A 1973 (in 74) Firebird T/A with the 455HO I believe.

 

I was born at home, delivered by a midwife. First car ride was in a '51 Ford.

 

53 Olds Rocket 2-door....dad raced it on the weekends,mom drove it during the week,of couse I have only seen pics of it

 

1953 Studebaker coupe. No Hemi, just a flathead 6

 

55 Buick on Dec 15 1955.

 

61 Bird in April of 68.
I always asked my dad why he did not keep that car.

He told me could not keep a set of ball joints in it. He said the front end just kept fallin apart.

I probably came home in something dumb like a '76 Pontiac but I'll tell you this. If I have my way my child will come home in my '35 Ford this July!!

Well my daughter wont be able to say anything cool-

She is coming home in a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S a little later today or on new years day.
The speedster just isn't practical (not to mention only 2 bomber seats) for icy December/January driving.

We are at the hospital now and this is our first- so excited!

a beat to hell 51 ford f-100, dad said it had one of those gasoline heaters in it and wanted ma to be warm as it was late september in upper michigan, the other car a 62 pontiac starfire wouldnt warm up unless you were on the hammer and not good on slippery roads

The Old Man's brand new 52 Merc Hardtop. Ive heard the story a million times (God rest his sole). He was worried all the way home that I would puke or shit in it. Mother said, she had to tell him to slow down or I would.

 

I either came home in a one year old 1950 ford convertable that my dad just bought (and later customized and chopped by 2 inches and kept the top fully functioning) or it was a customized 40 plymouth sedan. I just don't remember....


found out it was the plymouth...

 

I bet you were pissed about that...Nothin worse than a pissed off 20 min-old gearhead...

the day i was born in 1972..dad does not rember what automobile i was brought home in...yet on that fatefull day he signed his name to brand new....New Holland 276 hay baler with a kicker..it cost 6k ..guess thats why he does not rember his auto
