  2. Not exactly a hot rod, but here's the 250 horse 2 barrel 390 in my all original/stock '63 Monterey wagon. It's not much of a drag racer, but on the interstate it will push the the huge car into the triple digits with ease.

I'd also like to put an FE in this '61 Ford drag car project. If anyone wants to trade a 390 for the good running 351C that's in it now, let me know....

When you think about it, why is it that you see so many Chevy's? Probably because they fit so good, are affordable, make insane horserpower for the $$$'s spent, and last forever with regular oil changes. Other than that they aren't of much use.:rolleyes::D

  9. As 26Tudor said in post #24. I do have 9 FE's in my shop now & still collecting. I used to be a SBC fanatic but the torque of a FE changed my mind. My friends and I put 427's in 56 ford's with econoline I beam fronts and they would leave my 327 dual quad Model A 4spd way behind.(5.13 posi rear) Something about 500FtLb of torque at 5000rpm that beats highrpm small cubes at 6500.
I'm now more of an FE collector with almost every style of FE intake except for Dual quads & crossrams (always looking). I even bought a Latham supercharger intake from a HAMB & FEForum member since I've got a Latham.

As far as FE's vs SBC's each have a niche, I still have both. 5 SBC's as well

Checkout the FE Powered Hotrod & sleds Social group for more FE owners.

    I've attached a couple of Pic's.

They do make aluminum intakes, adjustable rockers and headers for the boat anchor.

Actually the FE engine won Le Mans two years, 1966 and 67. The GT40 used 302's to win in 1968 and 69. I own some of those boat anchors too.

You can send that X-F66 to me :D

Thats the funniest shit I've heard about a small block shity in a long time , Just replace every stock part with an aftermarket one and it's run like a bat out of hell .

Here's mine in my 59 Ranchero , motor is a 65 Tbird 390 , 3x2 is aftermarket , waiting on a voodoo cam to come in for it as well .
I tossed in a few for eye candy as well ;)

I have a 428 CJ. Well over 600 ponies on pump gas and done very easily. Everything adjustable, aluminum parts and great flowing exhaust.

Oh, I forgot. The FE didn't cost anymore to build than the chevy motors that we have built. Same after market parts in both brands to make them both run better than stock.

Any advice on how to get that kind of mileage? I have a 360 in my '71 F100 (about 8-9 mpg at best), and a 390 in my T-Bird. I rebuilt the 390 about 1500 miles ago, and the mileage keeps improving as it loosens up, but it's still about 16mpg.

I am running the 390 in my 1962 Thunderbird and it will run 70+ down the road all day long. It also gets good gas milage running that speed.

Completely stock and 65,000 original mile 390 2bbl in my 1968 Galaxie Convertible. The stock part is soon to change. Putting different heads and a 4bbl on it after the Holidays are over.

I have been looking for a fan shroud for this car for quite some time. Does anyone out there in HAMB land have one they would like to part with?

Love these motors but hate workin on 'em had one in my 66 Galaxie and 74 F100 4x4 (stump puller like no sbc ever and that was with the cast iron exhaust and intake manifold with a two barrell)

My 54 f100 gasser has got one and will someday be built for now it is just a worn out truck motor nothing fun to look at.

That all aluminum motor with the Zoomies was incredible absolutely awesome.
