Aw man, why'dja have to go and start this thread? All that hand hammered alloy and engine turned metal gets me all a-swoon!
Love the build shot with the really rumpled sheet of alloy. It's amazing how they can go from that to perfectly smooth and shapely.
I am so fucking sick of the bare metal look. From Shine, Bass,Mr. Ford now AU's in on it????? Get over yourselves!!! Hahahaha!!! Just kidding!!! These things are so fucking bad ass it's not funny. Love the incomplete one.
Here´s some more...and yes, it really inspired a lot of hotrodders even nowadays ! rear axle set up Mercedes record car AU type A again
The rear axle and the clutch are jaw droppers! Unbelievable craftsmanship! And what about the brake set up and what looks like a super neat friction shock!!!!! Simply tooooo much! ^^^the twin rear tires up here are also soo too kewl!!^^^
@modelAKeith: Cool pics ! Man, what would I give to "do" that bank in a hotrod!! The bank was entirely made out of red bricks ! ...and that´s Rudolph Hasse on the Nurburgring in 1937 !
Rocketeer, that would be one hell of a ride !! these cars make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up I was lucky enough to hear one back in 05 at Shelsley Walsh, Awsome, to see a full GP field of cars must of been something else (maybe thats why they had 300,000 spectators) The car ran out of fuel and ended up at my marshals post, man are they HEAVY to Push !! . . Keith
I'll say it again-THANKS!!! I built models of a couple of those years ago;matching that silver color correctly(and in 1/43 scale!) was a bee-otch. Just incredible craftsmanship on those cars. I can see where rodders would find inspiration in these pics.
I am trying to get my head around what I am seeing here. It almost looks like some kind of combination friction/hydraulic shock? VERY interesting.
[QUOTE QUOTE And if memory serves me, that was a 3.0 litre engine. Oh, how I would love to hear that banshee wail!
@redsled: It´s the 6 litre 520 hp engine with roots blower. It´s a little tricky from this angle and also the exhaust pipes are missing.Unfortunately the 3 litre 12 cyl was not on display.
