As most of you prolly know I am building a 28 chevy sedan delivery out of a 2 door coach. I have built a rear door for the car, and have fabbed a drip rail for above it. Do you guys think it is a feature that is needed to complete the look. yes or no...John
Yes, the drip rail is required. It's a design element that helps reinforce that there is a door there, not just a rear window. Looks good!.
If your door openings have them, then yes- if not... John, Picked up the spare '28 engine the other day and am tearing into it over the holiday!
It looks like it was a good idea for the drip rail so far. Spare engine? I have my hands full with one engine...John
i like the drip rail.. but also must emphasize it should be shaped like the deuce delivery pictured above.. straight with sharper curves at the ends..
It really depends on how your door seals and channels are designed. From an engineering standpoint, if properly done, the channel is not needed. My A does not have one on the rear door and I have no regrets. So, it is really up to you to decide what looks better.
Not only do I personally think it's necessary it also aids in additional strength to the top area. It also gives it a finish look.
Unfortunately ... I do NOT own the beautiful delivery I took the photo off Carnut to show how I thought the drip rail should be done
It should seal up tight hopefully. The way I designed it there is a L channel that the door sets into with a thin ruber seal. Did your 31 A delivery have one initially? nice car by the way. I am going to install the drip rail because I think it will finish off the look, and it was no contest on the voting...John
John, One thing I thought of- you might want to look at "A" Sedan Delivery drip rails or other makes of the era for shape ideas. Yours has a nice bow to it like a '32 Ford's, but it doesn't match/follow your door line. Again, just a thought, Bill
Thanks. That is the one thing that I dont like about it. If I could find another 28 chevy side rail I would use it on the back. You should have seen the curve in it before I put some relief cuts in it. Hmm.... Maybe a few more cuts in it...John
