Therotically, yes.........but it's not that simple. Depends on available engine power mostly, vehicle wind resistance, rear wheel/tire diameter and probably a few other factors. What it will do however, as you no doubt know, is reduce engine rpm at normal cruising speeds.
I did in my 442 , lot more drivable on street and hwy. I've gots plenty of power on reserve though so I cannot say if yours will still be enjoyable to drive around town .
I've got a set I bought to upgrade my 32 V8 axle. The car is the one in my ava. 322 Nailhead and Dynaflow with a torque tube. I have not had the time to get into it so I will be interested in seeing how it goes for you.
I changed my GTO from a stock 4:33 to 3:73's and wish I had gone to 3:23's instead. If you have a big torque monster consider lower number gears to get a good highway ride, lower your RPM's, and save not only your motor but a few bucks on fuel. I do miss the 4:33's they were a LOT of fun. Joe
Super. Please detail the steps to get the new pinion in correctly and also the new drive shaft (length change). Thanks.
