Hello everyone, just wanted to say that I am a beginner project builder. I have a 1949 f-1 that I am building but it is a slow prosses. I am putting together a 351w (400hp) with a T5 behind it, also have a 9' ford rear end with 370 gears(positrack). I think that it will be fun to drive when I get thet far. I also have a 1950 f-1(rat rod) the body is not all that good but I think that it will make a good rat rod but we'll see.

If anyone has any info I would really like to here what ya'll can tell me. I am open to any suggestions.

I just want to say hello to everyone and thanks for having me.:D

    Welcome from Cleburne.

A word of advice: if you want to be well-received around here, be careful with the phrase "rat rod" around here. It gets a really bad response.

49fordman - Since this is your first build, take it slow and easy, make it safe, form a good plan for the build and ask a lot of questions. Don't try to do to much in the first build, keep it simple and learn from it. Sounds like you have all the stuff for a fun ride. :D

    Good luck with your plans.

Hello everyone, Its good to know that there are guys like me out there. Thanks for the advice (smarg) we will refer to it as the shop truck. So I bought me a tremec 5 speed but I need to move the shifter to the front. I was told that a T5 out of a 80-88 S-10 would help me do this but having a problem finding a T5 thats burned up. I just need the lid and the tailhousing. Does any one have one they like to sell?

Well I just need the tail housing off the S-10 T5. I did some reserch and found that the S-10 Tailhousing and lid will bolt on to the mustang T5 that I have but it has to be a 80-88 T5 because I need it to have the mechanical speedo. The tailhousing are the same but the shiffter locations are different. Yes I know 400hp 351w might be a little much for the mustang T5 but you got to do what you got to do when you can't afford the tremc 600 trans. I figure it will do until I can get a 600.

hope this answers your question Stillrunner

I am looking for some drop spindles for my 1950 shop truck or if any one know a whay to drop my truck an inch or 2 with out braking my pocket book. I thought about taking out some of the leaf springs but the spring that are on there aren't to good. I am a begginer builder but I have done my reserch and I'm good with my hands so we'll see what happens.

    Thanks
