real nice car, I really like the paint, and understand exactly what you mean, a perfect, mirror smooth shiny paint job is just one more thing to worry about.
What I don't understand is how a guy your age is going to drive that thing, sittin' in those hard seats in a cramped little cab on Pa roads? I know I couldn't do it.

  2. congrats, at least the last three years wasn't a waste , it turned out really nice

Congrats on a great looking truck. Hope your paperwork comes through quickly so you can start tearing up the roads soon.

Well, I did the paint with spray bombs, in the driveway, like a '50's teenager. I primed it with Rustoleum primer & laid on a couple of coats of flat brown Rustoleum enamel. Then I took some old gloss black Rustoleum enamel that I had lying around for years & added a substantial amount of paint thinner to it in a pan & hand rubbed it into the finish until I got the desired effect. Truth be told, it's better in some spots than others. But, the beauty of the whole thing is that I can re-do it or change it or improve it with nothing lost be a couple of bucks.

Well, I still have to get some padding for the seats. I did have some real nice olive drab cushions that came with the seats, but it sat me up to high. I sold those to another HAMBer. One thing about those seats in their original configuration was that they were very upright. They were Army seats & were designed to be uncomfortable. I remember driving one of those trucks for about 400 miles & I was nearly crippled by the end. So, I did some surgery to them so that they now sit at a more comfortable angle. You're so right about the PA roads.

A car licensed as a Street Rod, modified 1948 and earlier, does not need fenders, hood, bumpers in PA.

hows it feel the sound of those pipes wind coming through the front window arm hanging out the side of the car. The feeling of the truck shaking at a lite rev it up dump the chutch and let them tires squeel as the sound of that engine comes alive get all sidways and pull through 2nd gear now its time for that cheese face. yaaaaaaaa hooooooooooooo

Why are you using three master cylinders?

    1 for the front brakes
    1 for the rear brakes
    1 for the clutch master

    Pretty common set up.

Yeah, the brakes are disc front & drum rear, but since the master cylinders are higher than everything, I didn't use a residual valve. The Wilwood hanging pedal setup utilizes a balance bar, where its possible to make adjustment to the front/rear brake balance without a need for a proportioning valve. So, I guess I'll have to mess around with that to see if it makes a difference. My big fear is that my choice of a 1" M/C bore was wrong. Now that it runs, maybe I'll do something novel & take it to someone that knows what they're doing.

That looks great. I really like that type of build on old trucks. Congratulations on a neat ride.
