I was just playing with photoshop and it kinda got me thinkin if I should or should not what do you guys think? first one is before and last one is after roughly
To be honest its difficult to tell the difference, between the two, maybe the chop isnt aggressive enough. With those cars, all you need is a lowering some fat whites, some shaving and you good to go,maybe a chop should wait.
its kinda what I am thinking too it wasnt much just a little bit but I think it makes the profile look 100 times better. as for the side trim I kinda like it haha idk why just do I guess. I just feel like the car needs more than just being lowered because its already lowered and still the height bugs me a little bit.
bigest thing i could say is dont over chop it. dont listen to the dummies that say cut 5 inches out of it. make it look like it does in the pic and you will have a perfectly proportioned chop.
I think it would look good either way. You may want to address the glass before you dive into a chop(do you know how to sink the rear glass, do you know someone that can cut the front, etc.). That way you don't end up with a nicely chopped car with lexan windows.
Even if you chop it the front fender height is still crazy, like a foot from the top of the wheel well to the top of the fender. Thats the part that bugs my about my 56 ford, I lowered mine to the point when I stand at the drivers door, I can look over the roof clearly. When I first got the car I had to stand on a milk crate to see over it. I like it no chop. Brad
I don't think you should. As stated above, it's so subtle it's barely noticeable, but if you chop it enough to make it noticeable, that body style looks kind of bottom heavy.
glass is tough i chopped a 54 ford and used lexan. It has the same type of back window and i extended the roof right before the rear window about four inches and made the quarter window(second door) a softer curve. chopped five inches, looks great! 3-4 would be great on that 56.
Yeah, chop it. Like Noname said earlier use the 56 Victoria windshield for a 2" chop. Just compare a 55 Victoria that used the same roof height as the sedan and a 56 Vicky to see the difference.
Hell, chop it 21 nches, put in a moon roof and drive it with you sticking through the roof. That's what I'm tawking 'bout!!! ...what's with all the chopping?? Doesn't anybody appreciate a car for it's original lines?
A perfectly great looking car.... Dont chop it. Chopping will mess up the proportions, if your not experienced to do it, you'll ruin the car.
A mate has chopped his 56 Mainline ute (in Australia) to take a Viccy screen. However, the biggest improvement to the looks of the car was to pie-cut the roof to take out some of its bulbous shape. No pics handy unfortunately. That may be a big job on your bigger roof. Have a look at a 56 Viccy and see how the lower roof and stainless trim give it the appearance of being a lot sleeker than the 55 model. Much nicer IMO. Cheers, Drew
