They were high speed trains, and they used the same engine as the Type 41 Royal. The one that went in the salt marsh in Texas is on video if you search Youtube. Sounds like a possable insurance scam.
Just imagine that Brined Bugatti is a write off... A Hot Rodder could do something cool with the parts.
Years ago a non Bugatti owner walked into the shop I worked at and asked "If Bugatti was so smart how come he didn't invent the small block Chevy?" I still think that was funny, but still want a Type 37 GP car.
he lied, a couple of guys caught the wreck on video. if it was an insurance scam he's screwed. here's the video of him wrecking it, he said he dropped his cell phone and was reaching for it. http://jalopnik.com/5404403/exclusive-video-of-bugatti-veyron-crashing-into-texas-lake
There are a whole bunch of Bugattis I lust after... Including the unsuccesfull rear engined GP racer, And the weird Exner/Ghia Bugatti...
412021. This a "before" before photo showing its original body: (Photo via Gordon Barrett) This is the rebody. I don't know how real it's considered. It took a long time for it to find a buyer after Felton was incapacitated by his accident. He severely hindered its resale value by recreating it with a body it never had: (Photo from Barchetta/Schmidt.) Cris
The worst part of it is that I think even after all that work, the body it originally had was better looking! But then i'm not really an Alfa fan so what do I know.
