Nailhead Guru's Need some help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chopped50Ford, Nov 10, 2009.

  1. I have a 59 Buick that came with a 364 Nailhead engine and Dynaflow trans.

The motor is no good. I am assuming the trans is good (clean fluids) and I have an option to get a 401 motor and transmission out of a 61 Electra 225. Will the 401 bolt up to my Dynaflow trans?

    Thanks.

Yep, it'll go right in... and it'll be a lot more fun... though I do love me some 364's... they're the unloved bastard child...

Only thing I might worry about is a possible oilpan fitment issue. However if Zman says it'll go, than it should.

He's right about the more fun part. 100 extra HP and torque will wake up your car. Ask me how I know....:)

IF there is a pan issue the one off of the 364, and associated pickup, can be swapped right on.
