Good Planning. It will make all the differnce in not having to re-do things two and three times later.

  2. Thanks guys!! The finishing date is some time next year before the Round Up!!!

Here is a small update from Labor Day Weekend:

Got some of the floor metal welded in.

But my focus right now is on planning to move to my own house with garage...

  3. Alright guys, it's been a while...

We finished moving yesterday, and I finally have the truck in my own garage!!
    That feels good ;-)

Now I have to clean up the mess, and organize everything again...
Right now it's parts and boxes all over the place.

And I hope I can give you an update anytime soon!!!

Great job! cant believe the progress you are making!

  11. Feels like it has been years, since I did an update...

Got rid of the old banjo rear and rolled a "new" 9 inch under the frame today!
Now that I got 4 matching rims and bias all around it starts looking like a hot rod ;-)

But I also have some questions:
Is my drive shaft angle too extreme??
Since the rear end has the joke out of center and the fact that the driveshaft will be so short gives me headaches...
It might not be a problem, but I'd rather check with you guys...

One more thing, normally I've seen coilovers mounted in the back of the axle.
But since I'd like to keep the original position of the axle I don't have enough space between the rear cross member and the axle.
So is it also OK to mount the shocks in the front??
    That will help a lot...

    Here's one more pic:

    Thx guys!!

  12. Looking good Martin! Your shocks will be fine mounted in front of the axle.

  13. yeah, I'll stick with the coil overs... Thanks for the offer though!
I'll keep the banjo for the next project ;-) Maybe the QC center that I got fits in...

Won't make it to the jalopyrama this year... I'd rather spend the weekend on the truck!

Alright Dan, so I'll find some 2x4 thick wall tubing and try to get it in there...

    thanks for your help guys!!

schweeeet! It seems somewhat familiar.... Keep it up.

  19. Thanks for your kind words!!

Here's a sneak peak of how the truck looks like now:
I am still working on the rear suspension, but I had to put it all together today, to see how it will look like.
The bed side is just on my jack stands, to get an idea, nothing solid yet...
But I have to wait for the cab to be bolted down before I worry about the bed.

So that what I did while you were at the Jalopyrama, hope you like it

  24. Martin, just found this thread. Wow, you are making terrific progress. I'm inspired to start mine. Between yours and Dave's and Sam's help I might actually go from a custom guy to a hot rod type. My folks live in Bridgewater and I need to go visit. I'm going to stop by your place and take a look in person. Nice, nice, nice work here.

  27. Pete: sounds good! let me know when ever you want to stop by!!

Taff: What do you mean "single shear"? That they are only supported on one side of the shock?? Yes they are...

VA HAMB: I actually live on your way home from work! I'll send you a PM with my phone number so you can give me a call. Would be glad to show you around in my garage!!

Here is the most recent pic with the bed mocked up:
