Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by restorit, Dec 16, 2004.

  1. I have two FE Cams that I would like to know what the specs are. They are both Sig Ersons - #e240421 and #e240121...Thanks!

Erson is now Owned By PBM Performance. Their tech line is 800-641-7920. Their website is www.pbm-erson.com.

The TQ30H cam part # E212221 and the specs are
    duration adv 310/310 @.050 226/226 lift 493/493 lobe center 110 advance 4 degrees.

It is a hydraulic flat tappet cam.

  10. Edit: Ah, hell...just noticed the original date of the thread...oh well, maybe someone can use it. :)

E240421: .551/.551 lift; 296/296 adv. duration & 228/228 deg. duration @ .050; 108 LC. Described as hydraulic flat tappet Hi Flow IH; "Hot Street/E.T. Brackets. High-lift, short duration, broad power range and strong top end. Fair idle. Needs 4-barrel, headers, compression and gears." 3000-6000 rpm range.

E240121: .523/.523 lift; 292/292 adv. duration & 214/214 deg. duration @ .050; 110 LC; ground 4 deg. advanced. Described as hydraulic flat tappet TQ20H; "The “Performer”. Super low- and mid-range power. Good idle, fuel efficiency and driveability. 4-barrel and headers recommended." 1800-4800 rpm range.

    ********************************************************************

There is also a TQ30M solid lifter cam listed for the 351W, in addition to Shorty's TQ30H hydraulic. The TQ30M:

.496/.496; 280/280 adv. duration; 230/230 deg. duration @ .050; 110 LC; ground 4 deg. advanced. Described as mechanical flat tappet "Mild Street/Slalom Racer. Street rods and daily drivers seeking super low end
power from 302-351 cubic inch engines with 9.5-10.0:1 compression. Works well in 3,200-3,600 lb. vehicles with 600-650 cfm. 4-barrel, headers, free flowing exhaust and 4- or 5-speed manual transmission." 2800-6000 rpm range.

    ***********************************************************************
I don't have either 914031 or 914721 listed in my catalog, though I do have some numbers that are very close.

Sorry to revive such a dead thread, but I recently picked up a used Erson solid roller cam and lifters for $100 for a SBC and was wondering if someone could fill me in on the details. I went to the site above and couldn't find anything. On the end of the cam, someone scribed the following:
    ERSON 0885
    R276-400
    R282-400
    C 112

I assumed that the 276 and 282 were duration, bit the 400 seems too low for a lift #. (?)

Thats lobe lift. You have to multiply it by the rocker ratio you are running. nothing like that appears in my old erson catalog, but probably the majority of rollers you will run across in that size range are not catalog cams.

I've got an Erson catalog from the mid '80s and a Sig Erson catalog from the mid '70s, and none of the sbc roller cam grind numbers are even close to 0885.

That chev CAM could be special order.
the "R" would indicate roller lobe , 276/286 should be duration the 400 is either lobe # or lobe lift . so would be 600 with 1.5 rocker or 640 lift w 1.6 rocker . C112 is 112 centerline , might be for FI or nitorus application .

I have looked everywhere, but can't find any specs of a cam kit I have and need to use. It is a small block ford 351w Sig Erson cam and lifter kit called a "Brute Force" series and the part number is E21002 . Anyone able to help me out?

    Thanks,

    Randy

  21. Hydraulic; .472/.496; 270/280 adv. duration; 214/224 duration at .050; LCA 112 degrees; LSA also 112 degrees....

Versions of this cam are offered by a lot of different cam companies...it's a nice mild SBF street cam, especially for a 351W. Make sure to check your retainer-to-guide clearance with stock 351W heads (as well as everything else, but retainer clearance can be an issue with stock heads at close to .500 lift ;) ).

Thanks HS91! YOU are a GENIUS! I guess I'll slide that into the 347 for my old street beater 65 Fairlane wagon, and pick a nice BIG stick for the 408W destined for my newly acquired '64-era barn find 60 Falcon straight-axle gasser!
