I liked that grille in the 1st post. Looks like a cool project.

Off topic, but about 12 years ago I was in St Petersburg Russia for a couple of weeks and saw some old iron driving around that looked sort of familar. http://englishrussia.com/?p=5152 I'd see a 1-2 of these older, 1950's era US looking designs each days.

Here is some more pics on the work we had done so far.
Generally a mix match of ongoing work but you can get the idea were we are heading with the car.

Had a few weeks on doing some work on the house getting the insulation done for the pending winter months,
But I fell of the ladder and broke my arm, ..... so there was not much progress on the car, but I will ge posting some pics later on how its coming along, .... now.:D

I tell you, house work is dangerous.....

Okay here is some of the on-going progress.
Here is a couple of more shots just on nearing the completion stage on the door extension and tops.
The door shape is starting to look really nice in its extended version and slight rework on the tops.
Also you can see the start of the extension work on the rear qtrs and roof line.

Yes it is. That's why I don't climb tall ladders. Even so, while working on my new deck I walked sideways off the edge (no railing then) and cracked two ribs while nailing trim on the facia of the shed on the deck.

Great job on the wagon. You live in a beautiful city. We were there 4 years ago and enjoyed our visit and your city greatly.

wow. that's a ton of work. won't be another like it. will you be using the door skins from the rear doors to become the body behind the new door?

Yeah, there has been a ton of work and much planning behind the scenes too.

    Yes that the plan.

Sorry for the delay guys, but got tied up with some other domestic stuff for a while, and could not get to post the on-going build shots.
Anyway, I will start the ball rolling again and show the final shots prior to getting the car prepped and painted.

Completely remodified the rear tail gate door to suit the slant on the rear C pillar and some smaller mods so that it would not look like factory.

great build, I could see that finished as a sedan delivery also. Two 50 Pontiac taillights frenched in each rear where the taillights are now might be way cool.

So after many hours of toil, we finally mocked up the car and panels and pushed it outside to get a better perspective of how it looked.
Definitely different from the old factory stock item I started with.

Finally, we got the paint on the car.
Isti (Steve) decided he liked the two tone from the previous paint scheme but not in the matt as before.
We were able to get it to our show in Budapest and present it on our club stand.
It had a lot of die hards (restorer types) confused.
Isti still has some assembly to do but he will stick with the mexican rugs for upholstery, and simply running gear at this time.
But there are plans for further body mods also, like frenched headlights, lowering and change of motor too.

I had to put these in also, just to let you guys see, what a die hard hotrodder Isti (Steve) is.
He loves the photography and video work and is always doing photo shoots on everything the club is doing in and around Budapest.

Please check out this link, and have a peek at our show.

Well this is where Hungary stands with the hotrodding culture that we enjoy and admire from here, for so long..
We have admired for years what others are doing overseas, but we are realising our dreams, even with though with total /absolute zero tolerance from the authorities, we still build and drive our cars how best and when-ever we can.
I hope you enjoy the pics from our show.

Beautiful workmanship on the stretched doors and the elimination of the back doors. To do that, and a chop at the same time and get it all to flow right, I say very well done.

I'd like to see more pictures, especially the tail light treatment.
