No it's not. The '42 has 2 pieces. The '46-48 has 3. They are the same at the cowl end. I have had a '41 that had a '46 front cap and a '42 that also had a '46 front cap. Eddie
Can't be 100% sure but when the war ended and auto manufacturers went back to producing autos instead of tanks and jeeps and planes and such they just rolled out the old dies and stamps and changed the trim a little till they got there design guys moving again.
Yes they are unless it is a one or 2 ton truck. My brother in law has a org. 42 p/u and it has the same frontend and hood as a friend of mines 46. In the background of this pic is his 42
I guess I should have given more information but will a 46-48 car hood fit on a 42 car without any modification? Thanks for the help.
hi, the 42 hood is all by itself. i had a 42 and tried a 46 hood and did not work. neither will a 41.
A 42 hood will bolt on, but the mustache of the 46-48 will have to be narrowed in the center to look right. It took a second mustache and some slits to get a smoothe transition. Not perfect, but getting closer. I plan on a peaking technique that will fille the gap... Oh yeah, and if you look close, the 42 side trim is slightly longer than 46, even though it's the same profile.
This picture shows the difference. This is a 42 hood on a 46 car and this clearly shows the difference in width at the hood / grille area.
