All four of these pictures are from the 1969 Winternationals. The first picture is Bob Collins in the " Wagon Master" 2 door wagon, not Mike Walker.

  6. In-Bomber update!

Put some more stickers and decals on, and we got started on the lettering thanks to Charlie Decker "The One Arm Bandit".

    Kudos Dean!

Your diligence in restoring the In-Bomber should serve as an inspiration to others.

I can remember the Texaco commercial. I think the music was from one of the Liszt Rhapsodies. Hungarian?

  15. More today.... Next week we're going to start on the engine-turned gold leaf lettering on the doors. The tires are a rare set of nos Firestone Drag 8.45-15 front runners, the exact ones purchased for the "In-Bomber" in the pits during the '69 Dallas Springnationals.

    No Cragars?

  17. Chrome reverse all around. 15" in the front, 14" in the back. Same set it won Indy on. There is one photo that exists though that shows the car with a full set of Cragars.

I know Larry Krome. I talked to him a couple weeks ago. He said he only has one picture of his cars that he had. I would like to know if anyone has any pictures. Larry and Roger Gower had both a 1957 Chevy 210 sedan and a sedan delivery. One of these cars held a national record at one time. I think I know where the delivery is.

I currently own the "Lau Raider" 1964 Dodge 440 that was raced by Ken Lau in C/SA from 1970-1971. Allen Adam, Ronn Eroh, and Harold Driesbach also took turns racing the car in 1971 because of injuries Ken suffered in a car accident preventing him from driving. From 1972-1977, the car was run in SS/DA and SS/EA. Ron Mancini raced the car in 1969 in SS/DA and sold the car to Kenny when he was building his first Hemi Dart.

I was working in the garage and found this on one of my old toolboxes.

    Steve,
After some proper research I would like to see Dennis Kutsavage (62 Chevrolet) Division 1 and the Ronca Bros. (56 Chevrolet) Division1 added to the list. Kutsavge drove the Dog Catcher G/S 62 wagon of Whitney and Kutsavage and the Ronca Bros. Monnshine car was an N/SA out of the Truppi-Kling shop.
    Many Thanks.

  23. I think that is a good idea. I am sure there must be a lot of racers besides myself that still have original cars.
We all know that there are original cars that people have found, but how many racers still own the original car that they started with in the '60's.

  24. Just thought that I would mention for those of you that were familiar with Trenton Speed Shop .
The owner, Ben Gioe has alzheimers and is in a nursing home. He is still physically fit in spite of being in his 70's and has good and bad days. I am in touch with his wife Fay and she keeps me up to date.

So did this thread just come to a halt ?

I still have one our'63 Plymouth's in my garage, no longer a race car just something I drive to a car show now and then or just for fun. When I drive the car it is suddenly the '60s again...
