I'd go with the 77. How bad was the 97 rolled? It might have damage to the frame and running gear that you don't notice now. I'm doing a 49 International on a 66 Chevy 1/2 ton, 2wd frame.

Yeah I'm debating from the '77 and '97 right now. I like the simplicty of the older trucks, no computer problems, fix them yourself...

the '97 was rolled at about 30mph, he drove it back home about a mile and a half. Haven't seen it in person yet... haven't seen the '77 either though, ha.

If the frame is good on the 97, that would make a good donor also. All you need is the frame , no computer to mess with.

True, I guess if I did swap out the 460 to a 351w I wouldn't need the computer stuff anyways...

The '77 should have a wheel base around 117"
The '97 should be around 152"

The '56 Long bed was set at 118". That 1" might not matter, I had planned on making the bed a bit custom. The '97 would for sure have to be shorter.

Why not extend the bed instead of shortning the chassis. Might be alittle easier. Just a thought

Ok, so it turns out I grossly underestimated the weight of the facotry flat bed and the axles, resulting in grossly, grossly, over estimating the weight of the f-600's chassis. It weighs about 200#s more than the f100, not the 2000#, lol. And it probably weighs about the same or close to anything I'd end up swapping with it...

So I'll be swapping parts rather than the chassis.

I am currently eye'n a 1997 F250HD for a donor. The axles on that thing should very well match the rest of the truck. Right now the '56 Turns, moves and stops like a ship, so I will also be swapping the steering and brakes.

It has a 460 in it with an auto trans that needs some work. I believe the transfercase is divorced but I'm not positive yet, hopefully it is. The 460 is going to be killer for a daily driver, so I am thinking a 351w would be the way to go. Smaller, lighter, and lots of power potiential if I ever decied I need more.

So hopefully this will all work out, lol.

What he said^^^ That truck would be sweet painted a mustard yellow with a white grill, and bumpers, along with some skinny TSL Radial swampers on it and some white steel wheels.

You might want to consider swapping out the 460 for a diesel!!
