any more pictures of the red wagon with fishtails? Also, does anyone on here own that... I have a lot of questions...
Aren't they all? There were a lot of great gassers at the Pileup. I only saw a few of them. That 60 Wagon was at the show last year, too. It's really awesome in person. That flat black p/u is neat-o! There was a 60s Ford pickup at the Holiday Inn trying to get a ticket. I saw it getting trailered home on Sunday. Tsk Tsk.
Don't forget about my pickup. It may be a little unfinished, but we put it together in 3 weeks from nothing and fired it up literally hours before we left to get down there. Yes, there were almost as many gassers as rat rods. Lots of them this year. LOL
Thats bad ass! Is that a model a axel under there? Are you the one that was trying to get a ticket at the hotel??
We followed that red & white 56 chevy once we got closer to Morris. it was cool to see it on the open road.
you missed the green falcon gasser and the stude up by the band stage. There were a few others, too... but I'm having trouble finding pictures amongst all the bitching in other posts.
I had my Hillman gasser project almost out of my mind so I can build a custom 52 fleetline this year. So much for the fleetline project!! Great post....Now where are all my gasser project parts??
It is the stock F100 axle. I drilled it. It has a speedway disc brake kit on it. The brackets and hardware are $100 from Speedway and I bought the discs and calipers locally to save a couple of bux. I had the original leaf springs rearched and we had to modify the spring perches to fit the rearched springs. I also had to modify the steering linkage for the relocated axle. We did all of that in three days last week if you can believe it or not. It may not look like much, but we did an incredible amount of work on that truck in a little over three weeks. It was four bolts and the steering box from being 100% apart less than a week before the pileup. The truck actually drives really nice. I have plans to add another 2 or 3 inches of lift in the front and maybe take out a leaf or two in the rear and put some lowering shackles on it for a better stance.
Thanks for posting That blue Henry J in the back forty with the magnesium wheels was one of my favorites of the Pile-Up. So was the Studebaker in the bandstand area. Had 389 Pontiac power. Anyone notice the intake maifold ? Its a early production Super Duty bathtub intake with provision for the 2-bbl idling carb mounted between the 2 4 bbls. It's the real deal and very rare. One of the club members I talked to said they were friends with Arnie Beswick and Arnie scored the intake for them when they were building the car.
Great Thread , it was very cool to see so many drag styled cars at the pileup , it is so cool to see a kids face light up when you drive by in a gasser on the street . it was hard to pick a favorite at the pile up they were all great keep em coming and thanks for posting the pics
THe 57 Chev looks like the one that sits near Jefferson Wisconsin on rt 16 on a lil car lot with a few other cool old cars. The 60 Wagon had a Poncho motor with a tunnel ram . I have pics of motor too . I also got pics of the 55 Ford driving down the hwy . lol It had an FE in it found out he trailered it though .
Here are some more from other threads. Not sure if I can get the links to work for pic uploaded to the HAMB
Some more! Damn there were a lot of gassers there! I haven't even gone through all the picture threads yet! Trailer Queen
