hambers this is o/t but i need a favor. my dad is a hard working trucker that lost his job almost two years ago. He has been looking for work with absolutly no luck. my father has always been a hard working and very proud man and refuses to get unemployment, so it has made money a serious issue at my parent house. well he might have gotten a job and we will find out tomorrow. could you guys just keep your fingurs crossed for my old man.
    thank you

I will keep him in my thoughts. Right now, being a trucker is pretty rough. I got out of it 3 years ago, and dont plan on ever going back.

If I may ask, what city does he live in?

  18. sorry for the job loss but refusing to accept unemployment when he paid in for it isn't a real wise move. if it meant keeping a roof over my head it would be simple choice. not to bag on your dad but he really needs to reconsider his position on pride.

I agree,a lot of us have worked all our lives too and we paid into the system for Social Security and unemployment benefits. That is what it is there for,to take care of us when we need it! Would He buy a home and live out in the street ? would you buy food and throw it away? NO! He bought and paid for those benefits with hard work, use them!

All our prayers to your Pop and best wishes

also tell him to Keep his head up and keep on trucking (no pun intented)......

    BUT

    55 dude<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_4440670", true); </SCRIPT>

Hit the nail on the head when he said he earned the right to the unemployment

that he has already paid for.......

    Tell him to collect it,

Their are other people out their that DON'T deserve it and have NO problem with taking the money without losing one ounce of sleep over it..

    HE EARNED IT !

Theirs no lost pride in that.........

    God Bless him ...

  22. Tell your dad for me this "unemployment is not charity". He paid into it for years. It is his to use when he needs it. He needs it now.

I know, I know, when you see thousands and thousands of worthless, shiftless, lazy SOB's taking unemployement and welfare, "real men" don't want anything to do with it. But it's his, he paid for it. Use it.

    Heres thinking of your dad

Good luck to your dad, hope he finds something soon.
There's no shame in claiming for something he's paid for throughout his working life.Sound like an old school stand up guy.I wish him well.

BIG prayers and thoughts from Jersey. Been there, just my opinion, but there is NO shame in unemployment checks. He paid into it. He deserves it. Its that simple. Just think of all those POS who get it and DONT deserve it. Good thoughts. Slim

I am not much on wishing. But there are a lot of shippers on http://uship.com . I have had super luck with them shipping projects, and some nice people on there. If he has a truck, he might find some work there. If not, there are tons of people that are working, he might have luck if he just wrote to some of them near him. Tom
