I worked as I could last week getting the 365 engine ready to pull out of my '57 Caddy parts car. It's going replace the blown mill in my '56 Eldorado, which threw a rod through the block.

Anyhow, my back's fubar so I needed a lot of help with the heavy lifting. I put a call out to my club mates. I bribed them with cheap pizzas and plenty of beer. I think everyone had a good time, including 'Rascal' , my new shop pup.

Here are the More-door parts car, and the Eldo.

The guys all drove their hot rods, except for Mike (Earl Schieb) but I think his 'Caddy' shop truck is still plenty cool.

There's always one wire left connected. While Mike and Ricky worked at disconnecting it, 'Rascal' attacked Ricky and took his pizza away.

Here it comes, I got the easy job working the cherry picker. Kent used to ride rodeo, looks like that's what he's trying to do in the last pic.:

Dale took all the pics, here's one that I thought was cool.

Totally OT but had to move this outta the way too, something I've been tinkering on over the winter.

Funny you should ask, I painted your namesake Ed Roth character on the back of it for them a while back. I also striped it.

It belongs to Ricky and Dale in our club. They ran it as a panel for a couple of years then cut the meatl back out - the glass was still underneath. I never had any idea.

Dale said they're gonna flake the roof in Roth lime squeezer green over the winter.

That's a good-lookin' Caddy. Sorry I can't say the same for those thugs helping you. But good help is hard to find.

I'd like to see a closer shot of that intake manifold. Looks semi-tunnel-ram.

Hey, I was glad to get the help! Thanks again to all the guys that showed up to help, and thanks for all the comments.

Yeah, the dog's a pistol. when someone sat a beer on the floor he knocked it over and started lapping it up.

Plans for the Caddy? First priority is to get it roadworthy again. I'd driven it to a show in Alabama right before I traded it so I shouldn't have too much to do. That was 3 years ago though...

It needs quarters and rockers, otherwise the body's in pretty good shape. I'll work at that over the winter - I'm thinking a deep red metallic for the paint.

The interiors pretty good to, I'm hoping to just get the leather panels redone and try and save the cloth, it's pretty unique.

The donor car supposedly had a documented 60k miles on it and sounded good when I started it up, so I decided to just clean it up and drop it back in. I figured it would be a bolt in deal but the exhaust manifolds and accessory mounting points are all different so I'm having to fab up some mounts for the alternator and I'll have to relocate the oil filter. The tranny is also about 5 inches shorter so I'll have to get the driveshaft redone.

Another thing causing me some grief - instead of simply unbolting core support the previous owner cut it out with a sawzall, then apparently tossed it and the hood latch in the scrap pile so it's MIA. If anyone's got a 56 hood latch assembly please give me a shout :D.
