Well I'm ignorant to automaticly know how to post my picture vertical. What an insult. Why don't you help those of us who want to know how rather than being
ignorant your self. I think it's a waiste of every ones time to show you are an ass.

And stop using the hamb as your reasoning for being an ass&@"$!

  6. Thats a great photo but the only way to make it vertical would be to crop off both ends of the car. Do you have any other shots ?

  7. Maybe like this

  8. hellisterrodder ... I'll try to help you without being too much of an a-hole  ...

Best way to post a "vertical picture" is to actually compose and shoot the photograph or digital image in a vertical format (i.e., turn your camera 90 degrees).

It is also possible to crop one of your horizontal images using any number of image manipulation applications that come with your digital camera, can be purcahsed, or are already installed on your computer.

As for your horizontal submission ... here's a couple very quick image edits to make it a vertical:

    Cropped into a vertical.JPG Stretched into a vertical.JPG

I think you would agree that the editing of your horizontal pic pretty much ruined the image ... IMO, it lacks "visual interest" as a vertical ... which just reinforces my statement that vertical pics are best done at the time you compose the photo.

EDIT: Whoops ... looks like I'm too slow ... Mongo beat me to it! :D

The generic answer is... you have to crop the image. I didn't see where he said what the desired ratio was, but most of the vertical submissions seem to be in 2:3 ratio which is the standard for most DSLRs. (I know, now get nit picky)

It depends on the image editing software you have. Different software does it a little differently. And no one is going to write a new help section for each program when it is already available in the program. If you can read it here, you can read it there.

Now go to your program and read the directions on how to do it.

    Hope this helps.

  12. JBurt is correct ... a 2:3 aspect ratio is "pretty close" to what Django is asking for:

NOTE: Not to pick any nits, but a 11"x17" print actually has a 1.54:1 aspect ratio  :)

Thanks, Hemi. I guess I missed that post.

You are correct. I was looking at them as 12x18. :( :)

I should mention, if you don't have an editing program that allows you to crop an image, a decent FREE program is Irfanview. Irfanview.com
It is basic and won't do what Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro will do but it will let you crop your images and other basic editing steps. It also has a decent help section and a lot of tutorials online. Just Google Infanview tutorials.

Edit to add: I don't personally use Irfanview so I can't help you with specifics.

I have got to finish loading for Eagle Field.
