Does anyone remember the small SUNOCO 260 window decals that many of us put in the side windows of the racecars? I'm looking for some? -- Either originals or repos? Any help/leads appreciated!! Thanks Tweed Yeah! I'm still looking for a set of Jr stock 7'' slicks too!!

Tom, I went looking for the Bill Truby pics of Ralph Fisher's Camaro and came up short but I know I have them somewhere. I did find these though. Don't know if the '57 was a Junior Stocker or not but it should have been. Also, I'm not sure if the others fall into the Junior Stock time frame but they look period correct to me. Bob Rice

Here is Tucker Reynold's "Candy Stripper" taken at the Connecticut Dragway reuinion in 2008 at Mountain Side Resort in Wallingford. I ran into him at a show on Sunday and talked to him about the car. He ran it in K/Stock from 1968-1971 with a 270hp dual quad 283/4spd. Had to switch over to a 3spd when the rules changed. Occasionally he would switch hoods and run a tunnel ram and 4spd in Modified Production. Best time ever was 12.2? in the 120mph range in M/P form. He still runs the car occasionally at Lebanon Valley, though the stock Chevy posi rear doesn't seem to hold up too well to modern strips and slicks! -Dean
Cool bluish-green tint on the windows. Tucker ought to get to that (slightly more than) surface rust before it becomes a real problem. Can you say: POR-15? It's a low-buck and very effective way to seal that nasty ferrous oxide until it can be repaired professionally. Btw, does anyone know how racers of the 1960s achieved their window tints? I'm talking about real glass not plexiglass. Pete
I grew up on the US/Canada border and remember there being Sunoco 280 being available north of the border. Mark
Pete, It was an aerosol-can product. Came in a variety of colors. I liked blue. Strange but effective (recommended) application method -- you'd start at the top of the window, quickly moving side-to-side and working down. It was a very-thin product and it would run big time, but the runs would all terminate and collect at the base of the glass where the window felt would be taped up. After drying ... no runs! I think you can see it (also on my headlights!) in this shot lifted from (thanks to Jim Amos) *8mm movie film. It came off easy with lacquer thinner. I took it all off the second year (68) out.

We used to gas up our G/Stocker with 260 at the Sunoco station near the corner of Lockport Rd. and Walmore Rd. just before pulling into Niagara...on Sunday of course. Lee

It was like adding a shot of nitro! Couldn't hardly race without it. A tank full of 280, that was heaven.
We could only get Sunoco 270 down south and man was it expensive at 35.9 a gallon. My 8.5-1 283/185 2 barrel 59 Chevy Biscayne P/Stocker didnt care what was in it. I could run the 29.9 a gallon gas. My new black 67 GTO 400/360HO tow car liked it though, it was faster then the race car. Junior stock was gone by 1970 so I dont know why everyone thinks all the late models high HP cars fell into that catagory. It was for the low HP cars, mostly older ones
MY brother and I ran a '58 Chevy Delray tudor sedan, 250HP 348/4 spd. Light metallic blue. Ran in '66-'67. Normally won our class unless the "Barn Job" '56 Chevy wagon showed up. Pitted and shared garage space with Jack Orrange, Gray Ghost '60 Chevy wagon. If you have any pictures of the "Great Junior Stock Starting Line Sit-In" we were in that bunch. You may be thinking of Ron? that ran the black '61 Pontiac tudor sedan, "The Gear Stripper" Jack Orrange's gray '60 Chevy wagon was the "Gray Ghost" He started with a fordor wagon then went to a tudor wagon with a sedan delivery tow car, all dark gray. He was a big guy from Buflo and always had a foot long cigar hanging out of his mouth. Lee
