Mercury Charlie had an awsome weekend! The Gene Winfield sheetmetal class AND his annual Hot Rod & Honeys Show. Here are some photos of the class and a few of the cars! enjoy
The photo above is what you would see through a standard pair of torch welding goggles. This next photo is what Gene sees through his very old cobalt welding glasses. notice the complete lack of orange flame and clear veiw of the puddle.
Very cool -- thanks for the photos!! I would have really liked to have been there. Charlie was really excited about this class when he announced it to us back in April during the Garage Crawl, before the LSRU... Malcolm
I'm thinking that Gene will really amount to someting when he grows up. Seriously, looks like a good time and some great instruction by one of the best. Frank
Gene is always a 1st class guy. It just amazes me that at 83 years young he still keep going like guys less than half his age. That and still very much a figure at Dry Lakes racing yet too. I really like the book that came out on him a while beck great pics. Michael
I want to thank gene for passing the torch, it is soo kool that these guys take the time to teach us some of their vast knowledge, it is an education that many will never get. so if you can swing it I HIGHLY recomend taking one. and thanks to mercury charley for hosting a great time. an experiance I will never forget. and I learned alot, the guy is called a master for a reason. thank you gene & mercury charley and crew, they all worked hard to have this. jeff
This whole weekend was soo cool to meet Gene and share just a fraction of his knowledge. I know I had a great time and a great experience making it all happen with Charlie and the crew. Looking forward to the next one.
I would again like to thank Gene for passing the torch. In the world of Custom cars & Hot Rods Gene is tops! We are all so lucky to have such an icon in this industry.
Elrod! thanks for the photo props everyone! these were taken mostly with the nikkor 14mm 2.8 prime. damn we had a great time! also the photo above with shannon in it, im not sure what was said or done but im sure it was a little dirty!!!!!!
Wow! What an experience. Just to share time with a legend like Gene. I wish something like that would happen closer to the middle of nowhere in the midwest.
