I don't claim to be a Metal-Customizer, but I'll tackle anything once. I'd like to see what the issues or challenges are that I may be up against to chop and "Lay-Back-the-Windshield" on my "A" Sedan at say a 25-degree angle. Can anyone offer up there experiance and photos for help and support? Glenn Old-Time HAMB'r
Take a look at Boyd's AlumiTub for a good example of how not to do it. I've seen some that look nice. That is not one of them.
There are some minor problems, for example the lower curve of the windshield frame does not match the curvature of the cowl. If you want to run a top the locating pins on the top of the windshield posts need to be sloped forward. I did it on my car. Mart.
Are you talkin about an open car or a closed car. There is a big difference. There are several "problem" areas with doing a closed car. This is pure guessing here but I'm thinking it won't look right with a visor. The other problem is if you take the visor off the top corners of the winshield are squared off (32 and up are rounded) FatAbones looks good but his is a radical custom. The back windows lean too. I think he's planning on doing his without a visor. Maybe he can take a side shot of his car with a visor clamped on to see if it would look good. Clark
Everything around the Windshield Frame will have to tilt as much as you lay back the Windshield. If you dont do that the Windshield Frame will not lay flat against the posts and the lower bow that goes over the Gas Tank. And tilting that bow back will change the curve ( or the arc ) of the top of the Gas Tank. I was going to use a cut down Model A visor before I got a hold of a '32 Header panel. I was still trying to work out how to do it, but I was thinking about changing the angle a little and cutting it down to about 2/3 to 1/2 of the original size. I like what Fatabone is doing to his car. Like changing the angle of the C pillars to match the A pillars, and losing the B pillars. Keep us posted on the progress, please...
I found my visor and stuck it on so you guys could see if you liked it. I'm going to go without it on the car just doesn't look right to me. Jr.
Almost everyone is posting roadsters. Sure a roadster NEEDS a chopped and slanted windshield but a closed A with a slanted windshield just dosn't look right to me.

[/ QUOTE ] Unless it's a 31 Briggs bodied 4dor town sedan, they are pretty and the front of the door slants with the cowl......kind of has that pre-32 look if you will...I have a cowl and front doors from one...it's going on a 31 Model A coupe........looks natural..
I can never get the windshield in. No one ever cuts the the reveal on the inside to fit the windshield frame. I have had three in a row tell me I wasn't much of a glassman! like it was my fuckup
