OK, I found an original '32 headlight bar cheap (not perfect but perfect for what I want to do) that I would like to cut up and make in to a low mounted piece for the front of my roadster. Someone painted over the stainless center piece. I'm assuming it would be OK to use thinner or some type of paint remover without messing up the stainless underneath. Is this a correct assumption? Thanks. Banjo
Heat, as in an oven, about 400 degrees. No torches, please. A heavy duty heat gun, on the other hand....................
If you use the oven cleaner make sure you get one with caustic in it or it wont do a thing. All good ideas posted above, about the only way you will screw up stainless is with a flame. I would go paint stripper then steel wool, get some course and some fine for finishing. Doc.
