For the any of you who have been wondering whats going on with The Surfers® dragster here are the latest photos I thought I would share with you. These photos were shot at the "original" drag city in Fontana, CA. Note: the homes are now were the drag strip use to be.
Hell yeah !! That is bad ass and you don't realize just how narrow the dragsters were until you see one sitting on a SIDEWALK !!! >>>>.
The Surfers car has long been my favorite, I guess because of the whole "little guy" vibe. That's the Pat Foster-built recreaction, right? Does anyone kow whatever happened to the real one? I heard Tom Hunnicutt bought it from Skinner and Jobe, but after that it kinda vanished. Also, is that front wing made of wood? Sure looks like it in the photos, which are excellent BTW. Thanks for posting.
Hey Drag city....So it is finished......Please say it will be at the chrr for the cacklefest.. back to THE place, where, in '66, it took on every AA Fueler in the world and wooped every one of them! Hows the Banning 'drag city' commin' along? OLY
Looks great to me! But I never saw the original in person. Has Tom Jobe seen it yet? Seems he built the hubs or something, didn't he? I'll be following this - as a long time Surfer fan and author of the "Only Son of The Surfers" story in HRM this year. Sure would be great to have the car (and Jobe!) at the Reunion! Meanwhile, thanks for the pix!!! Scotty
I love that car. Pat Foster was a bad mofo. I followed the build on his site, when it was being re-created. So when do we see a video of Adam Sorkin smokin the hides at Drag City?
