Thanks to the many for the compliments on the painting. It looks better in person and most importantly I had a fun time painting it. I had been looking at some sixties car advertizing and I think some of that influence spilled over into the painting. As always the art show never dissapoints on quality artwork. Welcome also to the Friday Art show virgins as it is always great having new talent stop by. Nice work all.

  8. Thanks Chad Lampert!

ccain, those little Ford's are great!

    Welcome to the H.A.M.B. LIZZZZZZZ!
You know this means you'll have to start drawing Hot Rods, right?

Speaking of Hot rods, an artist on Motorburg inspired me to rough this
sketch out while fresh in the brain. I will probably go into it further if
    time permits...

A 427ci (ZR-!ish) powered rod from the upper crust, once deemed, standard
of the world. ( I have another, 60's custom variation in mind as well.)

Some scrap metal that was laying around the garage that needed some art work on it!

  10. It's been said, but I'll say it again: fantastic work! Composition, value layout, gradations. So clean!

Last week the world lost a giant.......
    Bernie Fuchs.

Bernie Fuchs came from another world and turned the illustration World on its ear.... better yet,.. clubbed its head with Thor's hammer.
Within a mear few years in the late 50's... he completely DOMINATED the (commercial) art world...a few years later he also set the world on fire with different styles.
He was the MOST copied illustrator to this day.
his style annihilated the likes of Elvgrin,Rockwell,Briggs and most of the old guard.
    He could paint ANYTHING.
His automotive style and fashion started a trend that was carried on for years.....

    Rest well Mr. Fuchs,
    Your job is done.

I like your work. The 3-D effect is convincing. I'd like to be able to apply the effect to real photos.

I'm a huge fan of Charlie's stuff...he helped me understand how he did his silkscreen shirts many years ago at an NSRA event...and I've been doing them gung-ho ever since...Thanx Charlie...and BTW, thanx for the PM...

And I'd be remiss if I didn't wlecome Liz...altho I'm not all that familiar with her work (I think she does killer resto paintings...am I correct?)...as you can see, there's some killer stuff/artists here...

It's weird to say it but Bernie Fuchs was a fantastic artist all around as I'm sure you know. It's strange that he was one of the artists that I had been researching this past week. I did not know he had died.

    Respect.

I'm not cracking wise,,, how do you pronounce "Fuchs"?

We have a "Fuchs Park" here in Miami, any relationship?
