before 60's red see through fuel line, Holley regulator is sitting on top of the cowl.





After more traditional with a NOS 40's carter ceramic fuel filter to make the pressure regulator look older.
I cut the bracket of the oil filter to make a mounting bracket.

 

Update

Clutch is ready but I have the wrong starter plate luckily I just scored a 51 Mercury starter plate on Ebay.

 

Check this site for some great news on clear red fuel lines that need no hose clamps. And no it's not my site or do I have anything to do with it. Just good info

Great I think the hard lines look way cooler, other wise I would have left the red plastic lines,
and I did not want the fuel block on the firewall because I intend to have the body flip up funny car style for fun on a traditional build. If you can call it Traditional!

 

My tires came from Coker so I took them to Les Schwab and put them on some Kelsy Hayes original steel wheels I had laying around. The trim rings and hub caps are original too.

 

This is a great thread as I'm rebuilding a 27/31 myself. Keep the updates coming!

 

UPDATE
The motor fired right up with only one 3 minor problems

1. my carbs are 80 years old re-built by me and the filter is 60 years old, and the only part that leaks in my fuel system is the brand new Holley fuel pressure regulator that's made in China.

Euro sports cars to the rescue (Top Gear is the best car show on TV by the way).
I found a NOS made in Italy combined filter and adjustable fuel pressure regulator as used on 60,s Italian sports cars. Not totally traditional in the true sense but does the job and looks way cooler and more period than the crappy Holley POS.



2. The other problem was the fan belt sliced the lower hose on my mustang radiator and sprayed water all over the place. The solution was to go to the next size fan belt so that I could raise the fan adjustment to clear the bottom hoses. luckily I had made a copy of all the various standard size wide belts with there NAPA numbers.



3. The crappy electronic fuel pump I got from speedway crapped out within 5 minutes, I just replaced it with the NOS Stewart Warner Pump I found at the Goodguys swap meet and it was only 20 dollars

Is that a Speedway corvair steering box and pitman arm?
If it`s Speedway DON`T USE the pitman arm. It's cast and broke on my friends car
when he was steering while the car was standind.(Car is still in mock up stage)

Search the www for Speedway cast corvair arm....horrible stories.

Get an original one!!!

fantatsic car, love a 27. Filter Kings are great, ran one on my old Ford 105e tin top race car. Never let me down.

Took the hotrod apart again to weld and paint the frame. Just left the engine and wheels in place.

here are a few recent finds for my build




A 30's art deco heater





A Sun tachometer the sender has been converted to electronic







A Stewart Warner mechanical tachometer and a duel spark old school Mr Mallory distributor with mechanical tach drive. a brand new cap and the big old condensor.
Its actually for a SBC but I can chuck it up in the lathe and convert it to fit the flathead easy



now here is some even rarer stuff



A pair of Ford rear shock mounts that are equal length anyone seen a pair of these before?







A genuine deluxe 40 steering wheel not a re-pop
I did have to do a lot of work on this, center was in 4 pieces and the ring had chunks missing hence it was free!




This rare part is going to fix the float bowl hanging over the generator problem (see below)








A perfect set of 4 1940 Kelsey Hayes Ford steel wheels with un-damaged original stainless steel trim rings even the paint is original.
Currently the hub caps are re-pops because I only have a pair of original Ford script hub caps not 4 but I will keep looking.

That's about it for lately but i am looking every day for stuff.

Right after posting this i checked the classified section and Badger had just posted a genuine set of 49-50 Pontiac rear lights. Hopefully there mine hooray!

awesome thread! I am gathering all the parts for my rod now, currently have
1. 32 frame
2. 53 merc flatty
3. 39 3 spd
4. late 30's ford truck open drive banjo
5. 4" dropped frt axle
6. 1940 caddy banjo steering wheel "only cost me 10$"
7. beer keg gas tank
8. 55 f100 instrument panel
9. 27 T Tudor sedan w/6" chop

things are moving slowly, but none the less moving. Hope to have it rolling in eastern wa. by next summer!

 

also, can you post some pic's of your radiator setup?

 

Its not on the car right now but in the picture above with the engine and transmission floating on jack stands you can see the radiator off to the side.
Its a cheap 60's mustang rad modified with the extra ins and outs at my local radiator shop.
in the picture of the wheel you can see the grill to the right. Its a stretched to fit 1927 Whippet grill with a stainless steel mesh

 

I have been avoiding welding the frame because I am new to welding and only have a Home depot Lincon 110. It took me 7 hours working in the garage yesterday and by the last weld I was putting down beads I am happy with.

 

Looks like a stack-o-dimes to me, nice work!

 

thats cool its nice to a see a 27t that is'nt stupidly low on the floor and atleast yours is sitting where it should be nice welding to nothing wrong with that!

Latest find is an original pair of 1949-1950 Pontiac rear lights.
The lenses that came with them had been badly drilled for blue dots and cracked. luckily I found a pair of NOS glass lenses ages ago and have been sitting on them waiting for the lights to show up, right here on the HAMB classified and less money than China made re-pops!
