Well the big news was that Mike Couch has upped the flathead powered record to 12.6 seconds at 104 mph in his B roadster.
Thats fully street legal and on crossplies! awesome achievement.
    Here's the run.

  5. Mine too! I only went because I heard Neil was going to be there. Awesome bloke, real pleasure to spend some time in his company.

    Any ET's? I managed 22.5 @ 57 in the Fordor...

    Cripes!
I'm not used to compliments like these!
Never having done a drag race before I was a little nervous beforehand (and even more shaky afterwards, as Madam Butterfly noticed, but that may have been due to her closeness to me?). I shouldn't have worried. The Flathead Meltdown chaps all made me feel most welcome and offered good advice and great support for this old buffer. But the car's the star. Old "Boz", the Batten Special, received lots of interested (and interesting) attention, and was in the good company of a dozen four-bangers and flatties, each and every one fascinating in its own way. The same may be said of their drivers - what a great bunch of men.
I would like to put on record my sincere appreciation of the warmth and friendliness that I met last weekend at the Hot Rod Drags - from the Flathead Meltdown organiser, Darren, and all the Meltdowners, from the East Coast Sidewinders, Neil, Phil and the others, from Miles of Jack Hammer Hot Rod and Kustom, from Scottish Jamie, and from Andy Hadfield of Oddlot Drag Racing Team who rendered invaluable assistance in sealing a wee oil leak from Boz's sump that had caused the starter to reject us on our attempt to run in the Flathead Meltdown eliminator. And it was great to meet Mike and his '32 - the fastest flathead in Europe?
We'll certainly go again to "Shakey", first making sure that there's enough fuel in the tank to prevent pulling air and causing a misfire. We may yet make it into the 14s.
Thank you all; I look forward to our next meeting when we may again hear the call,
    "Gentlemen, start your engines".
    Onwards and upwards,
    Neil.

This was a seriously good weekend.

Just want to clear something up before all you Yanks get the wrong idea. Despite what it appears, I actually won this race, overtaking the Fordor at mid-track and never feeling the need to look over my shoulder.
Phil did admittedly win a second race between us, or at least crossed the line first, though I posted the quicker time of the two of us.
    There.
Just wanted that out in the open.
    Thank you for listening.

  20. What he said - absolute pleasure Neil.

  21. Hahaha - never said y'didn't beat me. Had to, what with all those gears to chose from, slipperier paint, and a lighter car n'all...
Next to meeting Neil, matched Cee-dan racing was a blast!
