My 48 convertible has 425,274 miles on it. I bought it in 1975, at that time I met two guys in the antique Chevy Club that had prevoiusly owned the car and the both told me that during their stewardship they each turned over 100,000 miles. When I got it the speedo showed 18,000 (+) miles ( 218,000 actually). I have turned 100,000 miles twice since 1975 bringing it to 425,274 miles. It had a 216 six when I got it. Swapped in the current 350 in 1980 which was rebuilt in 1985 when the 63 full sized Chev subframe was installed. Needs body work and a new top but drives great on Diamond back radials.

Denise it has had radials since the 1985 rebuild. TA radials initially and Diamond Backs since 2000. Great tires.

  4. Jeez Bob why don't ya ever drive that thing...?

  5. I had a 55 Chevy that I built in 1987. Drove it for 18 years and put over 150,000 miles on it. We drove it in 38 states and across Canada. It had radials on it. My current ride has over 18,000 miles on it since I built it and started driving it 4 years ago. If you can't drive them, why have them?
    Later,
    Dick

Now that's what you'd call getting your money's worth out of a veh
    icle .Very funny:D.
There are some really impressive numbers here , I knew there would be a lot , I'm guessing there are hundreds on the HAMB in the 100k club(hot rods , I mean).

I turned 100,000 in my Plymouth wagon with 8 good friends and a couple of coolers in it. Also happened to be on Congress St in the middle of the Roundup weekend. ;) :D

The Plymouth has a cool dash. They just don't make them like they used to.

All together over 300K since 1973 on 4 engines. the last one the 250 6 probably racked up the most over a fifteen year span and that was somewhere around 110 to 125K.
I put about 10 K on it with the 194 it came with, 75 or so with the 283 and around 100K on the 350 after that. It was my daily driver most of those years except when it was torn down for repair or redo. Usually it got pressed into service because what ever was intended to be the daily driver at the time broke down or got sold.

To everybody that has driven 100K in their hot rods under their ownership congratulations.

I think it is awesome that you guys drive (can drive) that much in your car. I can only leave work a couple of days at a time which makes it pretty hard to get too far from home. I also never keep anything long enough to put that many miles on.

I will only have about 8,000 on the roadster by the time we are done this year. I am not worthy.:D

  14. how many on here truly have over 100k on their hot rod , with one engine , and one owner ?
I guess a lot of people on here can't read :D

This one belongs to a friend of mine, Ted Brown (the God Father of the T bucket) how about 200,000 miles in a T BUCKET !!!

But Ted's not on HERE is he........:p:D

BTW, I was thinking exactly what you posted earlier but I didn't want to post the comment about comprehension and sound like a bitch. :D

Oh yeah, I've got 185,000 miles on my Grand Marque, but it had 120,000 when I bought it two years ago.....does that count??

Yes , I noticed the same thing , but that's O.K. I have to say 200,000 in a T-bucket is very impressive . I'm not sure I'm man enough to do that .
I'm still curious about Bob (animal) Ain .Haven't heard from him yet but I know that Magoo built roadster is driven a whole bunch . I first met him when he drove it from California to Louiseville with no top and we went next door to the bowling alley for dinner . Super cool guy and car !

I was with Hot Rod Liz in 2002 when she turned 100,000 miles in her T-bucket. Not sure if she still does the girls only LipStick Runs but if so she could be nearing the 200,000 mark in her T.

My daily driver is a '68 Impala Wagon with 239,000 miles. It was a one-owner car out of Atlanta. I got it when it had 118,500 on it so I have driven it more miles than the original owner! At 200,000 miles I got tired of adding a quart of oil at every gas fill-up so I put a 350/700r4 in it. At 213,000, I put a Tuned Port Injection unit on it and love the drivability.

  26. My '72 GTO 455HO has about 300,000 on the car. The motor I last built in 1999 for it and now has 173,000 and still is my primary transportation. It runs good though it is starting to smoke a bit from guide wear. The cam has .520" lift and has lasted just fine.
Overall, Id estimate over 600,000 miles on Pontiac engines since 1975 and more everyday.

Whats with all this "late model" BS??? I thought this thread was your Hot Rod, same owner, same engine & over 100,000 miles???????????
If thats true, count me in at 300,000 miles, same engine, same owner since 1962----Don (Avatar)----Just older!!

As was noted a couple of times, I've put quite a few miles on my roadster. Not sure exactly how many miles I put on it (repeated failures of the speedo drive cable, really the only troublesome part on the whole damn car), but I know the first set of tires went over 50,000 miles, and I am now on the fifth set. Even if the subsequent sets of tires went shorter distances, the car is well over 130K. Yes, I run radials, and yes, it is a ton of fun, even in the rain. I've been driving it daily for the last month or so, while my '41 pickup is aggravating me in the driveway. But I guess that doesn't count, since the new motor is in now.....

I'm with Clark. I began driving mine in 1965 and have gone through several motors. A couple that were my fault. I traveled the NW in the 70's with a flathead and later a 289 Ford. I parked the coupe in 1986 and drove my 38 Chevy but just finishing a frame off in the 40 coupe for another round of miles.
