My 1956 F100 is now drivable, however, it's been nicknamed the cropduster. Kinda sad when i stop at lights all the other drivers roll up their windows quick, but i am not giving in to the dark side. I want to keep the original Y-block, so.... Does anyone know of a machine shop in NY that can handle rebuilding a y-block the right way? Have a 3x2 setup-up waiting to go on a fresh engine.
Bontempo Brothers Competition (BBC) in Linden, NJ handled the rebuild on a 292 Y block that is in a 56 Ford convertible that Chopolds built for a customer. Engine came out real nice and runs good. BBC has been around for a long time and they have a good reputation in the area. They were recently featured in Hot Rod in the old speed shop issue.
Yes ,try HP autotech in Poughkeepsie NY. Talk to Ed Hosier 845-454-1299 He has built several engines for me and is a good guy.
BBC is a good place to go for ANY rebuild, but the "head assembly" guy there, Tom, is a Y block afficianado!
Big Chief here on the HAMB could likely be a good bet on either doing it or knowing someone in the area who can. You might send him a PM.
shoot "mctim64" a note here on the HAMB (he's also on the y-block forum)...he's here in CA but I am sure he could make some recommendations... BRT
