I pulled the seat covers and foam off my bucket seats and the seat back on one of them some of the springs are rotted thru. My question is can I use fencing wire to bend up a new spring to replace the bad ones? Will it hold up? I was going to replace the whole spring assembly but trying to find 66 fairlane buckets is going to be expensive. Any other suggestions? Any other low back buckets the same as fairlane? Thanks later shawn

In the current (September) issue of Hot Rod Deluxe there's a pretty informative article ("How to Rebuild Vintage Seats at Home") that might help a lot. They start at the same point your pic is at.

your local upholsterer should be able to sell you spring steel edge wire as well as the clips to attach it.Otherwise just get an old rear seat back from a junk yard and strip it down and adapt pieces to replace the bits you need
