all right i think i figured out the pixs problem like I said i got it 400.00 it runs has some rust any one know who makes repop door hinges thanks
Oh man that sucker is nice.I would kill for that one.Are you sure you need new door hinges. If the pins are worn out they can be replaced. If the hinges themselves are worn out You can take them out ,have the holes welded and redrilled, then install new pins.just be careful to drill them straight.$400 bucks wow good deal.I never seem to come across a deal like that. That car will make a great custom.
No one repops much of anything for these, you'll have to locate used or NOS. Used shouldn't be bad, there are still a few guys specializing in Hudsons specifically. $400 is a ridiculous steal for that car, it aught to be worth about five times that.
How's the rust on the frame rails? They usally go first I looked at a couple coupes but most where beyond help. But $400 is a steal good luck.
I'm not aware of anyone making re-pop hinges, but you might want to look up bill albright at the hudson ranch...he'll surely have what you need. You can find him here: Hudson Message Board
Why would anybody go to the trouble of chopping a Merc when they could just buy a Hudson? The Hudson came from the factory with the top already looking chopped. Nice catch!
Gotta agree with '38FordPickup, SKenny! No NEED to chop a '48-54 Hudson. With their unibody, "Step Down" construction, they started a real trend. That and popularizing multi-carb setups, probably two of Hudson's biggest contributions to U.S. Automobilia toward the end of a run that started in 1909 !!!
If you're gonna make some alterations, sure couldn't hurt to put the 308 Hornet motor in there, though!!! Like RustyNewYorker & others, I am always grad to see smebody save one of these rare beasts. Hudsons were always cool cars (at least until '55 when they morphed into "Hashes" !).
My 1950 Super Six has been gone since 1973, so my memory is a little hazy about some details after more than 35 years. The bumpers look like my '50, but the TAIL LIGHTS look a bit TALL to me, and the trunk-handle assembly seems pretty wide. Maybe my "disconnect" is 'cause I had a four-door, and THIS is a coupe? Did it come with a title? I mean, is it POSSIBLE this is a '49, SKenny?
WOW! Great buy! Are you interested in flipping it? Dont chop it! Run as stock as possible. The 50s Hudson are strong reliable, great looking cars. No need to mess them up.
BTW, Kenny, gimme a PM if you're minus anything there. I may have something in the huge pile in my storage. '50 is gone, but I scrounged a number of extra parts from boneyards, back in "the day." Don't know, but if I can help a fellow HAMBer, I sure would. I loved the recent HAMB "Pay It Forward" idea !!!!
Thats a killer buy! That will make kick ass ride. Has it got a speedo like this? The reason I ask is because the speedo is supposed to be a 50 Hudson.
i have the exact same car (coupe) for sale,,,$700,,,see my classified ad,, GREAT lookin cars that make killer kustoms,,,
If you do chop it, go conservative. i chopped mine 2 inches, but I also started with a Brougham, not a coupe.
