I do now that I checked your profile. Good to see you here too Kevin. The bumper is going out on Monday, by the way.

    Cheers,

The '63 grill is my favorite...dad's too! The chains have been replaced with seat belt buckles, works pretty well. Still needs cable for letting the tailgate down though.

The exhaust was one of the things I was thinking about changing, but it's growing on me. Would like to take it over the rear and out the back with some pencil tips. I was also wanting to replace the front bumper with a chrome one to match the rear. Some different tail lights maybe. A nice set of trim...

I LOVE exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels on trucks. Especially when the truck is low. It looks so right. I personally wouldn't have cut the bedsides though, but that's just me.

Sounds good so far though. I dig the front bumper, too bad it's not chrome.

    Don't mess with Texas, etc..

Hey guys, I don't want to hijack this picture thread (unless I can get a picture, of course). I have a chance to buy a running/driving 62 Fleetside long box. I need an idea what I should offer for it. It has the in-line 6 (235?) and column shift. It has the usual large fender rust holes, but the body isn't too bad otherwise. The interior is mostly shot. The truck looks like crap because of an old "brush" paint job that is peeling all over. It drives OK, but the steering and front end are very loose. What's it worth? Please send me a PM so we don't bog down this really good thread. Thanks!!

  6. here are some better pics of my 65 i added the fog lights and the stripes in the last couple of weeks.

Might not be H.A.M.B. friendly, but I paid good money for those wheels 16 years ago. It might be for sale, soon.

Here's some pics of my '66, taken at today's Brownsville "Stand By Me" Cruise In. It's a celebration at the town of Brownsville, Oregon where the movie "Stand By me" was filmed in '86.

And what's a celebration of "Stand By Me" without a pie eating contest. Here's my boy Jakobi:*

This was my Father's old 62 Chevy shortbed. I re-did this truck about 6 years ago. It is one of our daily drivers. It has a 305 sbc, 700r4 tanny, power brakes, power steering & air conditioning.

My 61' Apache 10 Panel. Needs some painted rust to fit in with the real stuff, patch work, rust flames, tires(may even fake-rust the white walls) and a hood, but you can't beat it for 450 bucks. Just pulled out the original lettering with some sand paper and am not working on mounting a beer keg gas tank along the rear edge of the roof rack. Three on the tree with a straight six.

Have the registrations and work orders for this bastard all the way back to 63'.

You're going to mount a keg to the roof of the truck ? Fake rust ? Are you pulling our leg here ?

Hell, dead serious. Of course, that is for right now- when I have no money and need a driver. Once cash comes again, I will do more with it.

Also, the outside is gonna look rough, but the inside, and the engine, are going to be nice.

    Then again, I love ugly.

Can't mount it in the truck- it's too big for below, so in the rear(up top and along the rack,) is about my only option. Limited in funds and options, so have to make due. As far as the fake rust- to paint the bugger black would just be covering the problems- same with anything else, so the pieces I patch will have to match the rest of the rust(which will be covered with a clear enamel so it does not spread as much in the near future.)

Just the next stage of this beast, not the final.

I've had exceptional results getting a box of SOS pads (soap impregnated steel wool kitchen cleaners) from the dollar store and scrubbing the whole vehicle with a garden hose. Most of the surface rust will come right off and the truck will look very much improved. Total investment 1 dollar.

  24. CLR and a red scotchbrite.

i'm afraid nothing will help rust flames though. :fail:

I just got mine converted to 5 lugs.
73-87 drop spindles in front and 72 rear, here is how it looks. The crossmember hits the ground, now all I have to do is notch the back end and find some shocks that will work. Any ideas?

Heres mine, picked it up a few months ago. Haven't really done anything to it yet, but plans call for a little drop and a 350/350 combo. It's in pretty decent shape, the paint isn't show quality, but at least it's all one color. I've wanted one of these trucks for as long as I can remember so I'm pretty excited to get this one hooked up right.
