  1. Is anyone running a 55-59 Chevrolet or GMC Suburban (Carryall). I have an opportunity to buy one and i need some inspiration. Any information on them would also be great. Lets see em please.
    Thanks, Frank

I'm not "running" one, but I"ve been working on one on and off (mostly off) for the past decade. neat trucks....they like to rust out in the quarters, and the windshield frames get cracked, broken, and mangled.

Beware that something advertised as a 55-58 GMC Suburban MIGHT be the GMC version of the Cameo Carrier pickup...that's that they called them....(rare as hens teeth)

X2 I'm with Frank...I want to see more of these Burbs. Here is one that my buddy built, He sold it it to someone in Huntington Beach. This is a Photoshop'd version of it with and without skirts before he sold it.

This is a Panel but it's still a 55 and it gives you an idea of what these look like chopped.... Bad Ass!! This one was at Primer Nats and i believe it was done by Noble Fabrication in Ventura, Ca.

Well, drove a bunch of miles, but the poor thing looked like it had been left in a salt mine. Had to let it stay and count it up as a 500+ mile Saturday cruise.

  17. Damn! That's too bad. Keep looking!

I never owned one but always wanted one.

I owned a '58 panel delivery that I had planned on restoring but ran into hard times financially and had to get rid of it. I tripled my money on it 4 years after I bought it, but I would have much rather kept it than made a profit off of it. I have a line on a '65 Carryall and may pick it up, but I've always thought that the 55-59 body style was more appealing.

Thanks guys. I think those are the better looking years as well, but the wife really wants an AD Carryall, so I guess it was for the best anyway.

    The search continues....

I sold my '58 and all the NAPCO conversion parts I had collected so I could buy my '42 Dodge Carryall. The Chevy would have been a better driver and a better investment.

Yea I don't think it would ever be more valuable to go dodge! Especially with NAPCO equipment. Regardless if it would be truly original or not.

Here's the Chevy I gave up and the less valuable, less drivable, but more attractive (in my opinion) Dodge I kept.

So here is my 57' Panel / Carryall / Nomad project... You can see by my scribe lines the idea I have for this conversion. The glass may end up being one of the most expensive parts of this build LOL...

    The plan:
    Built TBI 350 SB
Turbo 400 Trans with 205 Transfer case
    1 Ton axles
Cross over high steer with Saginaw Steering box
    33" - 35" Tall tire MAX
Satin Black powdercoated / machined aluminum wheels 17" or 18" max X 10" -12" wide.
2005 Tahoe interior - Front power buckets and middle row bench for back seat

No idea for paint yet but considering a Gun Metal Greyish brownish (Technically speaking LOL)...
