  3. I have just dropped a caddy 500 into my '49 lincoln coupe.
    Sorry, no pix as yet.
I also have XJ6 Jag rear end and front subframe complete.
Wonder if that Diff will hold up?
Body off chassis at the moment waiting for chassis to be finished.

Love the look the Caddy engine has given to the Linc.

  8. Get a chain hoist and hang it in there. I'm pretty sure there won't be much in the way. You might have to do some 'mild massaging' but I don't think any cutting will be required.

  9. This has a 500 Cadillac bored 0.030 to 512 cid. Edelbrock manifold, Crane cam, JE hi-comp pistons, shaft rockers, DUI ignition, Cad Turbo-400 trans, 9-inch rear, 2.75: gears.
They're only bout 100-pounds heavier than a small block Chev, and about 100-pounds lighter than a big block Chev. Ther's so much room in these old F-100s, you could put darn near anything in there.

I mainly chose a Cad because the truck is supposed to be a more or less period-correct piece, and (although the engine is a '70), Cadillac engines were THE really 'hot set-up' in 1953, which is the year of the truck.

A little "non-traditional" and non-apologetic about it...A Caddy in a Ford is fundamentally traditional, and it hauls ass.

  17. Quick question from you Caddy guys.
What size pipe should I be using to build headers for my 500 Caddy?
