Two of the nicest STOCK Pearl Red colors I've seen in the last few years are:

    LASER RED - GM/Cadillac

    and

    CHILI PEPPER RED - Dodge/Chrysler

I also created a red about 5 years ago. It is a DuPont Chromabase color somewhat similar to Dodge Chili Pepper Red except that it has Russet Pearl and Orange Pearl in it and it is slightly darker due to the higher content of Oxide Red pigment. I created it as an 8 oz formula then formulated it out (took about 10 hrs) on a spreadsheet to make up to 2 gallons. The Guys at the paint shop said my formula was stable and correct... I can give you the formula if you want to have a sample made.

It would definitely be one of a kind as I haven't even painted my '56 Chevy pickup yet...

In my opinion Viper red is too orange. If you want a deep red before it turns maroon the late model VW's have a good one and so does Infinity. I used the Infinity on an El Camino I had and It was perfect.

Harley Davidson has a 2 year only color that they only offered on the night train bikes called "black cherry" Its a great deep cherry color, with some amazing depth and flake in it. I wish I had a pic of it, you almost have to see it in person!

Check it out if you can. I know for a fact that the '05 soft tail night train had it~

    Thanks Guys!

Yep - Viper Red too orange.

Torch Red etc too 'apple' red, too 'sports car'

I did see an AWESOME deep red on a Lexus SUV at a dealership I drove past today.

The modern Mazda colors rock, but they have a darkness to them that leans towards a black interior.....that I don't want.

I will check some of those suggestions, and look forward to more!!!!

I better choose quick.....The roof rust is all welded up now, and I just need to redo the trowelling on some of the rest of that great big body!!!!!!

I just traded an unneeded Jag IFS for Booth time!

......and I've got bites on 2 of the 'other' cars that I've got littering the place!

    Cheers MIJ

Thanks! It's a pearl mixed and named by Stan Betz as "Apple Pearl" over red DP.

  21. There's a new Lexus color, they put it on the bigger ones, but I think it's 3 stage... Pearl Garnett.
