All right, I need some more advice. What distributor are you guys using in your small block Chevy engine? I need some pics of your set-ups.
    Thanks.

I like using a MSD hei if you have the room, their a one wire hook up for 12 v one for tach and your set. If room is an issue use a MSD ready to run dist. still easy hook up, uses a external coil and you don't need to use a MSD box, hope this helps.............

Here's mine with a Procomp HEI. I mistakenly called it an MSD. It actually is a bit cheap. Doesn't seem to fit 'comfortably' for some reason but still works great...

I just picked up an MSD ready to run, it's all I recommend and I've never regretted it. There are some cheaper ones but who knows how long they will last. I also like the ready to runs because they more closely resemble a stock type dizzy.

Don't buy the Proform, Procomp, or other HEI China knock offs. Pure junk. The advance mechanism will fall apart and give you locked out advance that will give you fits troubleshooting until you figure it out.

a points distributor with a pertronix conversion kit. Looks traditional, isn't huge, and runs like a top.

Sorry, no pics, but my favorite lately has been to rehab a factory distributor and use the Crane drop in conversion. It doesn't require a reluctor wheel and it has a built in rev limiter. I'm not sure if they are currently available, but Summit has them on their website for around $65.00, search XR-i.

A later (small dia.aluminum body) points dist with Pertronics kit. Fits my firewall and looks traditional.

  12. I agree 100% on the Bubbas HEI Distributors!! I have one of his old Mallory/ HEI converted critter and its beautiful and works perfectly! looks like an old dual point with the coil and module hidden under the dash. He even put the old brass condensor on the side to complete the look. distributor porn at its finest. "GMCBubba" on the Hamb.
