    Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone out there want to post their tire/wheel combo's on these trucks?

Lotsa cool stories about this style Ford truck and most of them end with "I wish I never sold it."

HR Surfer - Thanks for the info on that group....always helpful to talk to someone who has been there and done that.

dustdevil - Take pics...I love the recovery stories as much as the build. Its always cool to put the before and after pics side by side.

Rem - Brakes are good,....here or there.

SK - I got that funny feeling you and I may be sick of looking at this truck in a few weeks. Just kidding...

K7 - A few weeks....maybe. There are no deadlines on this build. Other owners/builders in our group set deadlines and end up disappointed. A little horse trading (an old Galaxie shell for an engine rebuild, 4x4 truck for cash, etc) and a few more money jobs through Rog's hot rod shop and the truck will come together. Right now we are gonna pass a hat around to everyone who got some free labor from Rog and buy him the windshield for the truck. It'll be a good start to getting it back together and one of the pricier pieces for this budget build.

Rusty Jim - we wouldnt be doin this if we hadnt sat around and listened to the stories you guys tell and looked at the pictures from "back then."

Tbird Dave...thats the same thing I said. My first reaction when we first saw the truck was "You shoulda bought the bird." It would be a sweet kustom-luxo barge to do in an early 60's style. I am glad he bought the truck now though.

Damn Art, your cab corners are as bad as Rogers. Stay tuned...I'll post pics when these get replaced.

Everyone else....thanks for checkin it out. There will be more pics as things change. This one will be nice and slow....and not coz its a Ford (HA!).

P.S. Any photoshop wizards want to do this one up in green?

Man that truck looks almost as bad as mine did when I pulled it out of the weeds. Unfortunately for me his will probably be on the road before mine. Sorry I don'e a pic from when we went and picked it up, they all were lost in a computer crash.

  7. The amazing thing to me is that this truck sat in a front yard in Stockton, next to a road about a hundred yards from North bound hwy 99, one of the busiest freeways in Cal. for about 25 years, and no one ever offered to buy it, just goes to show they are out there...sometime Roger will have to tell the story about how he got his Model A, that one real funny...

The only reason mine would be on the road before yours is because I'm pretty much going to leave the body stock Led, it's not going to be anywhere near as wild as your truck!

Enjoy it. I have a 56. The big tilt is a Cadillac. They were popular at one time. I have 2 of them. Make good trading material.

  10. Roger- I used a set of Escort seats in my 57. Not traditional but cheap and with the headrests off they look pretty cool. Also, the passenger seat has a storage tray under which is pretty handy. Plus they have manual lumbar and they leave room for a console.

Wow so much input so fast i can't keep up lol....It was a long day at the shop today so not much happened with the truck. I stole a few minutes at the end of the day and got the front and MASSIVE rear bumpers pulled off and the front clip lined up a little better but that's about it. Hopefully tomarrow I'll be able to sneek out to the shop for a while and get some work done. Maybe get some of the guys out at the shop and do some more tear down and cleaning and start making "The List".

Here is a few more pictures I found in my phone...theres so many sometimes they dont all get sent to my email.

Like I said, this truck at some point had a pretty distinctive paint job. If anyone recognizes it or has photos please share.

Heres the bed all cleaned out..the metal strips still look good. I think I heard Rog say the plan is a steel floor with some type of rubber coating like LINE-X or RHINO.

Heres where all the crap ended up. 4yd dumpster,....full of all the left over crap from inside the bed and cab.

And then here are the pics from Roger from today. Like he said,...the massive bumper off the back cleaned it up a little.

    Before and After

The guy at the tire shop is gonna call Roger when he finds a set of mockup/rollers and then we can try to get this thing off the trailer.

A special thanks goes out to Mom and Dad for not letting that bis ass bumper fall on me when I pulled the last bolt loose lol... Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but believe me the truck looks much better already. As for the Rhino lined bed with a steel floor, I know a nice finished wood bed would look killer but this thing will be used as a truck and you guys know how it goes. No matter how careful you are the bed would end up thrashed. I hope to have some rollers tomarrow so we can get her off the trailer and really get to work. Well that and I need my trailer to haul another car! Later, Roger

I know a wood bed floor looks a million times better guys and trust me I'd love to be able to have one but can you imagine what an engine or rear axle would do to all that pretty stuff and hard work? I have to sell my current full size truck to make this truck happen so I need to have the ability to haul stuff around in it.

We'll see what happnes with the bed guys nothing is set in stone yet lol.... Remeber I could be driving a neat old truck with a steel bed floor or a lame late model with the same steel bed floor! Honestly guys I know where you're comming from and i haven't fired up the welder just yet so we'll see.

Alright,....lets do an informal poll from here on out. if you guys add a post throw out WOOD or STEEL at the end so Rog can get an idea what you think. i dont think he cares what you think but just so we can all get an idea.

I'll start,....I'd never thought about the rubber mat idea. Ill say STEEL just coz I know the type of abuse we put our trucks through. I bought that Silverado and the next day moved my whole house in it. The bed was pretty for about 24hrs after I got it.

Either way.....it does look a helluva lot better without that bumper. And thanks for helping Rog figure out the avatar Nicky.

As long as the metal looks like it belongs there and not just a peice of sheet over the old floor it will look fine. Thats how I'm doing my 58

Man,....this truck is getting my blood going. I am really excited for Roger..., good score man.

  27. Roger- Thought this might make you think again about a wood bed floor. This floor is 4 years old and has definately been used but probably as much as what you do. I built it myself and instead of the metal runners I made mine out of wood and had them raised up about 3/8" above the floor itself.
Good luck with whatever you do.

If it's a cool work truck, I'd say steel bed. You go through all the trouble of installing the wood and in the end, it ends up getting hurt. With steel, you don't worry about it as much.
