All in all it was a fun show... I think the image the show pojects is a little goofy... The anti-establishment nature of the show works in Ca because there are so many car shows that a marketting gimick like the 'Rules' verbage is sometimes helpful to put cars in the lot... But it doesn't work well out here when your only real 'compettition' is the Round-up... Personally, I would have welcomed some high-end cars instead of some of the ratty giant exhaust tip, grill-shell-higher-than-the-cowl, when-in-doubt-go-fenderless, cars that made it in.... Point is... If you take such a bombastic stance on 'Billet-rods' or 'Gold-chainers,' you open yourself up to criticism for what you do let in... That being said there were some nice cars there and good people... Here are the cars I found interesting... Disclaimer: It was sunny as hell, and my camera sucks... Forgive the glare.
First... This might be one of my favorite cars of the show... (I've got a soft spot for 40 tudors, but that's not why) When is Patina, not patina? Answer, when the original paint and interior survive and look awesome. My picture of the interior didn't come out... Sorry but it was awesome.
Next... I dig old sports cars... Especially ones modified for more power/performance... So this grabbed me.
Then there's this little Harley... It deserves to stand alone. It looks like it could take you just about anywhere in style and relative comfort...
No for some bitchin customs... That 58 Chev was awesome and worth the death-march across the baked land to the back-40 for the pics... It's all good... I lost weight...
As a final thought... There's this Shoebox... I like the profile and the stance etc... But I'm not sure about the whole package. I like Hot-Customs... But with the full cage etc... This one looks like it's treading dangerously close to the Pro-Street vibe... I think it's one of those love it or hate it things... I like it today...
From the pics I have seen, Looks like there were something for everyone from fenderless to full fendered, from works in progress to really nicely finished, then a coupel of kewl bikes...wished i could have gone
If you knew the guy that built that Shoebox personally, you would fully understand why it has a roll cage in it. Matt puts roll cages in just about everything he builds for himself....it's kinda like his trademark
Kilroy best coverage of an event ever. Quality always beats quantity. Thanks for the pics of the good and not the ugly.
Thanks for the pictures. Judging by some of the other coverage posts - I was wondering what the hell happened? Your shots prove that there were some nice cars there.
Exactly. I appreciate you put up the good stuff. I'm amazed at the pictues people post of crap cars, just because they were at the show. I was at Walmart today in el Paso and saw nicer old cars as daily drivers in the lot - then a lot of the cars at that show. It looks like the rules excluded some nice rides and let the turds in.
