I don't think Harold Fair was related to Joy. Could be wrong.

I bought that short 54 from Rocky Glover of G&G Radiator and raced it as #48 in 1978 and 1979 at the Sportsdrome.

With all the Louisville photos posted lately I thought I'd post this brochure I found the other day. Any of you guys know what year this might have been?

I'm HUGELY interested in Louisville racing, particularly the Fairgrounds. My contribution is a shot of Leonard Blanchards 1970 Torino that he qualified for the Daytona 500.

Danny Dean bought a 427" Ford from the Orkid bug man in Charlestown Ind for the 73 ARCA torino we built. I don't remember the bug mans name but he owned the Torino and then a Monte Carlo that Leonard drove at Daytona. I think the engine came out of this car. Seems as the car had been painted white before they switched to the Chevy. Allstarracing

Leonard Blanchards son still runs a garage in louisville. It is at the corner of Poplar level rd. and Indian trail. I would like to see any pictures of Preston Fords race cars.

Here is Bill Smith's restored 56 Pontiac at the Speedway Motors museum. If anyone has any more pics of this car or early Pontiac please post them.

I was with Leonard Blanchard up at Kentucky Speedway for the Nationwide Race back in June. He is doing well and splits his retirement months between Louisville and Florida. He still looks like he could hustle a Torino around a track.

Any of you guys have a picture of a mustang that WS Brewer drove at the Fairgrounds.

Here are some pictures of the ARAB pest control car I think allstarracing was referring to. The gentleman who owned it was Elwood Duncan. This was take at Milwaukee.

For you old Pontiac fans, here are some photos of the #3C Late Models which were owned by the late Leon Sheffield of Ft. Pierce, FL in the mid '60s... Cars were raced primarily at Ft. Pierce, Eau Gallie and Treasure Coast Speedways... Drivers included Billy Taylor, Jim McGuirk, John Whigham and Dick Crowe..

Great photos, Twisted. Bringing back some great memories. That shot of a field coming to the green reminded me of staring down a field like that while working from the track and getting ready to throw the flag.

Harold Fair is no relation to Joy. Photo was taken at Anderson for the ARCA/ASA co sanction 250 lapper. Fair dominated the event taking home the victory.

Few may argue but I think Joy Fair was the best ever short track driver period! Won tons of races in the 50's and 60's in super modifieds and late models. He was still dominating in the 70's when all could purchase Howe chassis and high dollar motors. Continued to race and win up into his 60's.

One great guy if you ever had the chance to meet him! Fair owned Benny Parsons back in the 60's at Flat Rock and Toledo, then Benny ascended into Nascar fame and success. Fair could have easily done it if he chose to. He was happier running his garage business and staying local winning races.
