    I have this Mallory unit... i think it's a mopar
    The id tag # sez Mallory double Life
    part# YC497HP
    any clues..or is the a site for id?

    If it was from a 318 yes lenghten the shaft and you are good

    If it was from a 440/426 no, spins the wrong way

    Looks like mine in my 331 Hemi...:)

    Make sure you clean the wire connectors real good in cap base not fun to reassemble...:eek:

    Mallory has info on web I gota find it again! :rolleyes:

    Dual point, you will find only 4 lobes on the shaft.

The length from the flange to the end of the shaft is unique between different motors. 413-426-440 RB and 426 hemis are in one group, 350-361-383-400 B-motors are another, 273-318-340-360 and other small blocks are another, 331-354 hemi and 301-331-354 poly, 392 is by itself. I have no idea about the dodge, plymouth and desoto hemis, but they are likely shorter than the 331-354 chryslers and grouped based on the deck height. I think small blocks are the longest and b-big-blocks are the shortest. Lucky you it could be any of these.

    Measure the length and someone here could probably measure theirs and tell you exactly what it is.

    You could probably swap it even if it spins the wrong way, so long as you can reverse the advance.

    THIS IS A USED MALLORY DOUBLE-LIFE DISTRIBUTOR PART # YC-497-HP THAT FITS MOPAR 273-318-340-360.
    I BOUGHT THIS DISTRIBUTOR NEW TO USE IN MY WORK TRUCK (1963 DODGE) AFTER MY ORIGINAL ONE FAILED. I REMOVED IT WHEN I SOLD THE TRUCK AND IT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE SINCE.
    THE DISTRIBUTOR IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX AND INSTRUCTION SHEETS WITCH ARE DATED 7\71.
    THIS IS A DUAL POINT DISTRIBUTOR.

    I can get the longer shaft from hotheads and drop into another project
