Yeah that's Hermann getting dumped out of a BRM actually. Those old front engine Grand Prix cars were some fine machines. So how did YOU know who it was?

Great find! I'll bet Ruttman, P.J. and many others sat on that and drank a beer.

COOL Find Josh! Sorry I missed you guys Fri. Night I broke the shift arm on my 31 onm y way there then my hitch again, on my daily driver towing it home. So I sat in the garage drinking beer, and welding up my JUNK!

That box is amazing!! That crash looked bad. The scariest part was seeing Faas jump out of the car like everything was fine and then hit the dirt after the adrenaline wore off. I could not believe he made the call for the b main.

That's what makes it such a great sport!!!

How about Darlands crew switching Engines between Hot laps and Qualifying!!?

Oh, and we just happened to be standing in the pits when the WWF rukus busted out between Big ol farm boy Balloo and California pretty boy Damion Gardner! Funny shit, cute lil slapping match. As always the crew guys were fighting more than the drivers. That's how it always is.

LOL, just like the old days: "Went to the fights and a race broke out".

  10. To follow up on the crash video, Ryan Kaplan was released from the hospital at 4:00 AM this morning beat up and bruised. He will miss Tuesday night's midget race at No. Vernon and possibly the Sprint race at Terre Haute. He was at the Bryan Clauson racing open house today stiff and sore but a smile on his face.( well, as good a one as he could muster up) If you watch the video again check out that he does a complete 360 in the air before he lands square on the roll cage. That was a hard hit. The car is totaled but one will be ready for Terre Haute if he can drive.
If one hasn't been following the Indiana Sprint week, it has been a barn burner. Clauson, Darland, Levi, and Boat have been absolutely flying. Bloomington and Haubstat should be a heck of a finale. One might also keep an eye on a kid named Blake Fitzpatrick, he has been coming to the front lately.
Indiana open wheel racing .....ooh rah!

Because I got called on it years ago when I said it was Masten Gregory!
Avus was an "interesting" track. A hairpin followed by a large radius 60 foot high banked 180 degree turn with no guard rail on top.
Jean Behra drove a Porsche out the top of the banking and through a tree to his death. That kinda brought the end to the track....

Where do you GET these pitchurs?

Interesting? more like scary!:D OT but it wasn't a good place to "leave the park" as they say. Not a good place to park your gullwing "Sade" too close to either.

Standard early/mid 50s Kurtis dirt/pavement champ car. Owned by Bessie Lee Paoli. Driven by Chuck Stevenson to the 1952 AAA championship. Driven to 2nd place in the 1953 Indy500 by Art Cross. Sold to Mari Hulman in 1954 who shortened it to a sprint car.

Chuck Stevenson drove it to the 1952 AAA championship and Art Cross finished 2nd at Indy in 53. It was owned by a woman by the name of Bessie Paoli, one of, if not the, first woman owners in the big leagues. It is a Kurtis 4000 chassis.

This picture is Chuck Arnold and his crew at Indy in 1959... I think he had a top ten finish...

I'm looking for photos from the IMCA Winternationals which were held in downtown Tampa, FL (Plant Field) each February in conjunction with the Florida State Fair... If you have any photos (pre-1970) you would like to share on my website www.floridaracinghistory.com, please e-mail me at [email protected]...

I LOVE THESE THREADS ON THIS WEBSITE!!!

The owner of this car was Karl Hall from Orleans,Indiana a small town trucking co owner. Karl is the man in the black pant's an the white shirt. He had race car's for several years but was a low buck operation as he was not a wealthy man.
