  1. Sent ya a PM.

  2. are the 331's identical to the caddy 390's? My buddy who has a 60, says my engine is identical to his.

Where are the numbers stamped on the engine to identify what it really is?

    Thanks!

Minus the '63 390,which is a mix of the previous '62 and below 390 and the 429(it is a pain in the ass transitional motor)

There were alot of "good times" down at the shop with this "Hall of Fame" build that everyone so graciously helped with. The color is amazing and I don't think the magazine captured that but did a great story ~
BTW...as for the steering wheel...telescopic and nothing is manual in car...windows/doors etc.,

Should be on the upper right front corner of the engine block if it's a 331 or any block from 49-58,which includes the 331('49-'55),365('56-'58)

If it's a later model (59-67) powerplant,it will be on the left side of the engine block. This includes 390('59-'63),429(64-67)

If it's a 472 or 500 block(probably not,but for the sake of listing it),it will be located on the upper part of the block behind the intake manifold. This includes the 472('68-'74 DeVille's and Calais models,68 and 69 used 472 on all models),and the 500('70-'76.'70-'74 was used on Eldorado's only and all models in '75 and '76)

Does Desecrated With A 400 Small Block Work For You?

  20. If anyone is interested, here are some pictures of my 51 Coupe De Ville under the knife. She needs some love and attention, so im giving it to her.

Looks like some salt damage since the car did come from the Kansas area. The inner rear quarters are completely gone at the seams. Roachy, crusty rust. In fact the panels have separated and edges fell off leaving a 1 - 3" gap in some area . The rear floor is completely gone and needs to be rebuilt. Who needs patches, when we can make our own. :) Go Vintage Metal!

She's an all original car, no molestation; and she's going to stay that way. Same color light blue, dark blue top (eventually)

By the end of the week, she should be all buttoned up with metal work.

  27. It wasnt a bad fix other than the edge needed shrinking and stretching to be correct. lots of twists and turns, in and out lines. If you have shrinker/stretcher its an easy fix. Since panels are NOT available, we ( Vintage Metal ) had to make our own. Simple like making fresh pie. :)

For an update, both sides are fixed and Im really stoked.

Ill post up some pictures for everyone to see if interested.
