I wasn't too keen on it without the bed, now I love the look, I think it balances out real nice.
In the future, now that it seems like you are finishing up with the mods, do you plan on shiny paint for it?

Absolutely. There are a few more small changes to make but it is very close to being done with fabrication. Then it's just a matter of how long I want to keep driving it before I blow it all apart for paint.

  5. Awesome work Fidge! I followed the other thread when the bed became an option...I like it with the bed.

I love the "work with what you got" fabrication too.

    Keep up the good work.

i am glad you decided to go with the bed. it looks terrific!

  7. Keeps looking better, I still think it needs a roll pan to thicken up the back a little.

Good luck with the shiny part, I shook my truck down in 2004 to get ready for bodywork. Look at me now, 45,000mi later and it's still in primer. Good thing you have other hot rods to drive when you do start the body work. :D:D

Just about finished. Or as finished as it's going to get, for now. Still needs some welding and straightening, but I'm kinda tired of working on it.

Still have some work to do on the floor, I'll post pictures of that when it's done. Gonna use '33-6 tail lights instead of the '37s now. I've made the mounting brackets but will get the lights (and some more hardware) tomorrow. My shocks should also be here tomorrow, will get them on asap. It could really use a new tailgate, and will get one when funds allow.

  15. I like it much better with the bed.... & I liked it before.

The balck booger sacrifice was well worth it.

Wow looks great. Looking at your build pics I thought it would look too long in the rear but I was wrong. You nailed it!

Thanks Michael! Maybe someday I can make it as nice as your coupe...hell of a job on that car.

What do you all think about the tail lights placement? I'm pretty happy with it. Oh, and now that there's a bed on it and you can't see the rear end...I'm going to piss everyone off an put an 8" or something in it. Tired of being afraid of breaking the banjo, and I want to put more power in it anyway. I'm keeping the banjo for another project though...

Tail lights are spot on! Throw a 9" under it and burn those rear tires off it!!

That does make it look even more finished with the bed on there, I have been watching this truck since I found your thread on making the top for it. And that is a good placement for the tails right where they are.

Autorama is coming up, needed to get some more done. Picked up a brand spankin new Brookville tailgate at a swap a few months ago, time to put it on and make it functional. Whipped up some hinges today. Tomorrow it's latches.
