I'm just starting a new build. A friend happened to stumble across this 1927 T Coupe in the bush about 15 Years ago. He went back to see if it was still there and it was. So he picked it up for me. It is really straight, but it has the normal Rust Spots for a T Coupe. There was enough dirt in this car to fill up three 5 Gallon Pails! So far I have just been cleaning. I sandblasted all the Belt Lines, Door Jams, and tight hard to sand areas. Any area that is easy to sand I sanded to bare metal!
I removed the stock seat riser and the sheet metal floor. The doors are your normal Model T Door. RUSTY!!! But workable!!
I have seen a lot worse bodies around so you will be fine with that example. One thing is the metal is so thick that it ages well and even a beginner can do panel work on them. The deck lid looks in really nice shape and the rest you can get patch panels for and some can be easily made at home or in a local sheet metal shop. The challenge is fitting everything in drive train wise. keep us posted.
So far the plans for the Drivetrain are SBC350 with 3 Rochester Carbs. 4 Speed Standard Transmission. And 10 Bolt Rear End.
Nice body, deck lid and doors.Your lucky .The doors are selling for a lot at swap meets (if you can find one)and the deck lids are really hard to find.I had to repair my trashed deck lid.Good luck with your new project and have fun.
Wow that does have a nice deck lid! Good Score! Notice how the lid goes all the way up to the rear body belt line on this coupe? I could swear that Ive seen 26 27 T coupes with a sheet metal panel between the top of the deck lid and the rear belt line. Anybody else seen this? Am I hallucinating or are there two body versions with respect to the 26 27 coupe deck lid?
I'm really happy with the shape that this body is in. I just recieved a set of Patch Panels for the doors today. They fit Perfect from what I can tell at this point. Right now I'm kinda thinking on building a new deck lid from scratch. I want to fill it full of Louvers. But I dont want to do that to an original lid. If I'm successfull with making the lid I will just sell the original lid.
Maybe it is the roadster that has this set up you mentioned. I am not into T roadsters but that is what immediately came to mind with your question. I think there are few model T roadster builds on here which should give you answer after a quick search.
WOW, great shape! Really solid comparatively. Nice find - Rare friend to get it for you (instead of himself) or to market for himself. Perley
Will you be making a frame or using a model A? I channeled mine over a model a frame, and I'm happy with the look. I could'nt find any good pics of the body on the frame.
I'm going to be building my frame. Kruzer63 designed the frame for me with Autocad. It is a basic 2x3 tubing frame with some laser cut pieces at the back to go over the rearend.
