This is a little rant...and reminder!

Not too long ago a friend stumbled across a car he missed out on over a decade ago. A fellow HAMB'er picked up the car and my friend was nice enough to share a picture of the car back when he originally saw it after reading about how it was bought for a project. He asked that the new owner let him know if the car came up for sale. The understanding was that the car was bought as a project, but turns out that the only plan was to make money off of it as the car was very quickly put up on 'that auction site'. My friends picture of the car turned up in the listing without any permission from him. Now, not letting him know it was being put up for sale was a bummer, but using his picture as if it was the sellers?

Moral of the story (and end of rant) if you are planning on using someone elses pictures to make an additional profit at their expense...at least have the common courtesy of asking them if they mind!

My grandmother was a morphine hooker.

  3. I'm confused. Was Morphine her pimp or what she'd hook for?:confused:

You act like you're suprised? If all he was going to do is turn a profit for it, of course he's going to use any extra pictures he can get to help him sell the thing. Nevermind the fact he didn't give your buddy first dibs on the thing before posting it on ePay.

That's how I'm seeing it anyway.

  13. I sold some bike parts a while back and the guy who bought it was waiting for it to arrive, when he saw it listed again with another seller! he thought i was scammin him and was listing it under another name, i assured him that was not the case and someone used my pics in their ad, i wrote the guy and threatened him if he did not pull the pics immediately, a hour later they were down and he did not see the harm with using my pics so i had my buyer write him and explain it to him. some people are just a-holes and their just ain't no wipe'n them out!

unless the pic was taken by a pro and paid for i really don't see the harm.
i would be more bummed about the not being told about the sale and trying to get the car.

i had a guy sell something that i asked for the "first right of refusal" straight up if he got another buyer for his price. (i was trying to get the cash together and taking too much time) i really didn't mind the sale per say but i found out that he sold it anyway without letting me know it ticked me off a bit! it was his shit of course but i thought we knew each other better than that. i have learned the more you expected from people the more your going to get agro with them. sorry to hear it though.

  16. The way I see it is if you post it up on the net for all to see do not be surprised if you find others using it.Sad fact of life.....

I think if they atleast say "photo by:......" its cool. Ive submitted photos of autocross to our local scca club and they used em, but they didnt credit me. I was kinda upset, so the next time I just asked them to give me credit. They did.

isnt doing that a sincere form of flattery?

I would be proud to have one of my cars on some publication..even if i didnt get anything for it..why does it always have to be about money?
