    For those of you that know him, Doc knows how to save a life, but if he had to post pictures to do it, we'd all be dead, So, I, who am only slightly better at this than a chimp, have agreed to post his solution to a little problem he ran into a while back. And now, in his own words;

    I'd been wanting to put a PM7 intake on the 31 Speed Special sedan for about a year now. Dick Spadaro took the one off his car, and I was able to pick it up (thanks Dick). I scored a couple of Stromberg 97's from Riley Automotive and I was ready to do the swap, but when I did the mockup, I ran into a little snag. The Thickstun does not have provision for an oil tube fill/breather. One solution is to run the breather at the fuel pump stand, but this would not work due to no clearance at the firewall. I had seen a post on the HAMB showing a flattie with a breather on the oil pan, so I figured that would solve my problem. I mounted a 45 degree Moon breather on the passenger side of the pan and it turned out pretty cool. Here's some shots to see how it turned out. Hopefully this will be useful to anyone who runs into the same problem. Enjoy! Doc.

    Hey...cool little A!

    Isn't it great how we can pick up tricks from a 60 year old photo?
    Theres always something to learn and it doesn't have to be something new!

    So, when you get blowby on a decell, is it going to push oily vapor out onto those pretty headers?

    Pretty car, though.

    Man-O-Man!!! Check the finish on that oil pan. SHINEY!!! You can see yourself. Cool idea for the breather. Only the one breather? Schweet Hot Rod! Nice work!

    looks good,

    but you do know that you can use the early fuel pump stand with the breather ontop so you can run an early intake on an 8BA, can even still run the mechanical fuel pump by just measuring the fuel pump push rod length and adjusting accordingly.

    I've always run the early intakes on the late motors as I think their cleaner in looks.

    I'm running that setup on my blown flattie, but it won't work on the '31. There is not enought room at the firewall. I really tried that solution but it was a no go. Instead of cutting a hole for the baffle, I drilled a series of 1/8 inch holes. It still breathes good and I think it will help to baffle the oil better than a big hole. So far it hasn't leaked a drop, even with hard brakeing. Oh yeah, and I trailer my cars all the time. Mark, you're out of the will for posting that pic of me. You know I'm in the witness protection program.
