Beer. With it I can accomplish anything.....well at the time. Never looks quite as good the next day for some reason. haha. Seriously...I couldn't live without my angle grinder with a cut off wheel, welder, and my ratchet wrenches. BFH's are mighty handy too.

  2. As most of you mentioned, the angle grinder is definately a favorite tool,
I love my plasma cutter and welder and all the wrenches and all, but after back surgery i realized a couple tools I couldn't live without,,, my engine hoist and floor jacks and one of the most significant tools of all,,, the wheel.:D I put wheels on everything in my shop.
No more heavy lifting for me.

  3. Hey Grits, How you doing?
I forgot to put that my favorite tool is my 4-Post Lift. The bottom side of a car really looks different when your are laying on your back and twice as hard to work on. Also great for stacking cars up in the shop when not in use.

There are some things I consider staples: good spanners, sockets, a welder, grinder and drill press.

Aside from those basics my faves would be my lathe, my belt linisher, and my powerfile. The most under rated would be the powerfile. Fantastic for metal shaping. Ooops, I almost forgot my high speed (22,000 rpm) disc sander. I love that one.

I second (or third) the vote for vice grips. After my darling daughter broke the shift lever off our beater Cougar (the only car of mine I'd let her drive) I clamped on a pair of vice grips and off she went. When she parked it she just removed the v.g (even though she is blonde-she could do that)and no one could move it.
