Ok Guys........... I'm not picking the car up for about a week (Going on Vacation next week) "Shovelfest 09" I'll make sure to take lots of pictures of the "Rescue" Blacktop Bandit will be helping me get it Now I need more help............................. The car had 3 owners Bob Hamke, Joe,and Tom I bought the car from Tom I told Tom yesterday,I wanted to call Joe to get some more history on the car He told me "DON'T CALL HIM,Cause he'll be mad as hell I didn't sell him the car! Back" "He didn't want to give me anything for the car" He still has the SCTA tag he took off the dash and I think he still has the track nose,because he didn't give it to me like he said he did" Remember........The cars been sitting in Tom's garage since 1968 OK Hambers..................How do I get this stuff back? Without pissing the guy off? HELP!!!!!!!!

Well if Joe wanted the car back for 1968 prices, tell him what you paid. Chances are he wasn't willing to pony up the same. But be prepared to pay today's prices plus for the missing pieces because he sounds greedy. Have a number ready to offer for the pieces, if he accepts great if not say "oh well, I'll just replicate them" and walk. Don't dicker with him give him a chance to take your offer but don't let him play you for more. Tell him your best offer up front and play hard ball. Who care if he's pissed, he was being the cheapskate. Now if you're worried about pissing Tom off, tell him your plan and hope he gives you his blessing.
History alone makes the car well worth the time and money to restore it to it's original build.Thanks for the article and information. Just a great addition to History.

Very Cool, I am very glad that some Shithead did'nt get it and do something stupid! Now restore it and take it to all of the big shows so we all can enjoy it. Congrats!

First off I wouldn't call anyone and ask to buy anything till the car is paid for with a bill of sale and at your place under lock and key. Stranger things have happened. In fact you are very brave to be talking abou this on the internet before the car is at your place. After you have the car home then contact Joe, let him know you bought the car and ask to purchase track nose and other bits he might have off the car. He shouldn't be upset with you, not your fault he didn't offer up enough cash to purchase from Tom. If he is a true traditional car person he will do what is necessary to help you restore the car. Even if he says no at first make sure he has your phone number so he can contact you when/if he changes his mind. I think debuting the car, once it's restored to original, at the Indy "Motorama" would be really cool. Then bring it to the Motor Coty for the Detroit Autorama. Then take it to B'bille for Speed Week and race it! Great find, CONGRATS! You guys do realize this is at least the 4th GREAT "barn" find in Ohio lately right?
